Mods not coming to console

As stated Via a developer Mods won't ever come to console not that they dont want to they just dont want to deal with the bureaucracy of Sony, and Xbox and all the red tape that comes along with Mods being added to the game for consoles. However, Ark has Mods in their game same with other games having Mods for their games as well. However with 7 days to die they won't have Mods coming to console not in the future or possibly ever. So lets discuss on this matter and if you would like the devs from 7 days to add Mods from the mod community to the game on consoles. Because consoles should have the same aspects as the PC versions of the game even if its in small amounts like darkness falls or tarkov mods and that will also support the modded community. Because as a console gamer and that has been playing the game since Alpha 15.5 on console I believe that we shouldnt just get skins that cost 10 dollars a pop while being stuck in vanilla forever while PC gets to have Mods and consoles being shunned from having Mods all because of bureaucracy and the devs being afraid to even try to add mods for console players.1000007630.jpg

It's more than just Sony and Microsoft. Consoles are already limited by the amount of space the game can take up and mods would only add onto that restriction.
The space that a console can hold is based on the graphics of the game and data of that game that has to be processed not on the mods itself as the mods would take up in game space not the console save space. Via like it does with Ark and other games that have mods from their respective modded communities. As consoles are more powerful these days then they where 10 or even 8 years ago. Even the storage space is even almost on par with PC with 2TB or even 8TB storage units or SSDs

I'm sure it's possible but I doubt it would be on the priority list. I can't imagine the hoops a developer would have to jump through to get that kind of approval.

This is a cop out. There's absolutely no reason they can't add mods to console. They have 90% of an SDK done. Consoles require an SDK. It would take a few weeks to a few months of work to get one out.

No clue why they don't want to do it but if it's because they don't know how or don't want to. They need to get rid of the person/people that are the cause of this issue and replace them with someone that does.

Most, especially triple A, games are designed first and foremost with consoles in mind. Any crumbs tossed to PC players, e.g. decent PC ports, are always secondary in consideration.

TFP are primarily PC developers. That's why they've contracted out console development to another company as far I can ascertain. And that's fine.

If the console adaptors can find a way to make mods more accessible to console players, I've no doubt TFP would consider it.

Sandboxed SDK and in house mod hosting platform or mod.io are the most viable options.

The approval process is extremely simple especially if it's already on the platform. The main issue they want is sandboxing and compliance with the anticheat to keep the consoles as out of reach of malicious intent as possible.

Console is limited to the hardware of the Series S meaning if it can't fly on the S then it basically can't fly at all even if it can on the X and PS5. If they did add mods to console, it would probably be a very small and specific selection.

This is one of the main reasons. Consoles, especially Series S, are already at the bottom end (or below) minimum specs for the game. Adding mods pushes that further. People already regularly talk about how the game sitters and doesn't perform well on console. Mods would make that worse.

That, combined with the restrictions imposed by Sony and Microsoft mean that mods are extremely unlikely to be added to console for this game. And if they were, they would only be small XML mods. You would never see an overhaul mod, or Vehicle Madness, or Izayo's weapon mod, or CompoPack, or PEP, or anything like that.

Series S exceeds or meets recommended PC specs in everything besides memory which can be optimized for. The stuttering and framerate issues aren't console specific.

A sandboxed SDK and adequately compressed assets would solve this issue. Sure, the mod list would need to be shorter. But it's better than nothing.
