PS Animal tracker not working

Animal tracker is showing the green paw print tracking symbol on the bottom left but no icon on the compass. So it's telling me there IS an animal nearby but no telling me which kind or it's direction. This a common thing or just a me problem? Reset skill points to see if I could fix it but no luck.
 
The compass icon only shows within a certain range, but the detection is a bit farther. When this happens, look at your map and you will see the animal icon to know what direction to scout in.

Sorry for silly question— Is this within range? I don’t get the icon on compass or above the animal at all anymore

Not meaning to butt in, but there is a bug report for the animal tracker being out of sync and not showing the correct icons caused by the player wearing a helmet with an added attribute mod. Could this be the same thing?
 
Happened to me earlier today on my ps5, my perk is at 4 right now, had a paw print pop up on the left side of my screen, did a 360 and nothing was showing up on my compass. A snake finally showed up on my screen when I was less than 5m from it and it was coming at me.
