Did I set it up wrong?

I don't know if I have a bug or not but I have a server with some friends on a hosting site. I set in game time to 120 min per in game day. I set the zombie count to 24 alive per player and 3 times in a row now the horde just stops at 00:00 server time. No more spawns at all till after the blood moon ends at 04:00. Is there potentially a setting that I need to change or is this a bug?

Can't think of any setting that would stop a horde night at midnight. Maybe day starting hour (night length, however it's set), if any. That would be obvious every night though.

The more likely alternative is, you're killing them all. If your total gamestage isn't too high, you can easily dispatch a horde in a couple double-length hours, that's 2 am on 60 min days, usually the first three hordes are over by then for me.

Ok so the Horde night has a max number of mobs that can spawn. How do I up that number to stupid levels? Do you happen to know what the setting is called. I would love to crank that up.

You would need to either manually mod the gamestages for bloodmoon, or find a modlet that does it.

Alternatively, just work to raise your gamestage quickly.

Ok I figured it out. The setting descriptions in the server sites UI suck. Doing a bit of deeper digging and googling what the settings actually do the Zombie max alive count thing was the total number of mobs that would spawn during a blood moon per player not what it said on the UI. I changed the MaxAllive in the file and the Blood Moon Enemy Count as well. It is now crazy wave after wave of Zombois and Zomgurls to kill.

Oh, great, you got it solved :)

Is there actually a way to do this from console? As in to set "days-alive" higher or some such?
Not that I am aware of. But focusing on leveling will usually get you wrecked by a higher gamestage that you are ready for pretty regularly.

Darnit, got my hopes up by misreading your original. :)

I keep hearing this, but it doesn't pan out for me. I'm always between 1.5-2x day in levels; my gamestage ticks up by days. Any level at that point is a skill point's worth of increased power, which ofc isn't much after a while; but still an increase.

I don't know. I haven't tried it in a long time (A20 or A21), but in a 2 player game with xp set to 300%, the first horde night destroyed our base. We had every zombies except the demolitioners and a lot of them. And being day 7, we had very little ammo and ended up fighting in the street halfway through because the entire base collapsed as they ate through all the walls. That was the only time I've experienced a carry day 7 horde, so I assume it was because of the xp.

Hmm; there's been some motion in the systems over the years, I don't pretend to remember how it all went down. Never have I ever felt the need to slow down on the levels to manipulate the game. I do play solo, multiplayer scales faster.

Here's me admiring the magnificence of my d14 horde base. Well, d7 base, with a couple additional pieces of conc; it did just fine.

Note the 130 hp, level 30. In a T5 ofc, for all of the loot stage :)
Sadly I don't exactly make notes, can't say what my actual GS was.

I think it mainly comes down to how quickly you can gather resources. If you're high game stage on day 7 so that you're getting the stronger zombies but you haven't had time to gather enough resources to build a strong base, then you're more likely to struggle with the horde night. Just as an example with made-up numbers, if I was at game stage 100 on day 14 with a fully concrete base and was getting all the zombies, that wouldn't be a big deal. But if I'm at that on day 7 and can barely complete a cobblestone base, it might not be so easy to deal with all those zombies.

I know in my example from back then, we were a mix of wood and cobblestone, which on a normal day 7 horde night would have been fine. But it was paper to what came at us. Almost every wall was gone besides a few "bones". If we had been prepared for that kind of horde night, we'd have either used a POI or else worked harder at gathering resources to be able to upgrade the base more and then may have been fine. But it definitely seemed to make a difference. Of course, now that I'm more experienced in the game, it might not bother me anymore.
