how to set up dedicated server 2.0 on seperate PC? possibly with mods?

hey i´m looking forward to running my own dedicated server for me and my friends with the new 2.0 update, but i cant find anything on how to set it up with the new update

Dedicated server setup guides

Official Maintained Guide (Windows and Linux, but I need to update some data for v2.0. I just haven't had time to yet.)

Linux/LGSM

Also, a note on settings.

@SylenThunder am I right in thinking that setting up a server on a rented server is the same as described in the official maintained guide?

Which of the server mannagement tools are the easiest/best to use, for a not super tech savy console player, trying to set up and manage a dedicated server for the first time? ;-)

Has the server folder structure (both Linux and Windows) changed for version 2.0? The reason I ask is that a friend (linux) and myself (Windows) have been following various guides on doing backups, and we can't find any of the described folders. However, we did find a Navezgane folder that appears to be where saves are going to.

I had 1.4 installed on my headless linux server before 2.0 came out. The ONLY change was a few lines in the xml file for the server.

I have done some write ups here on how to setup a server on linux.

So I got Running (I guess) what about some mods for a bigger map or different Buildings? And how to use Custom map generation with the Build in 10k Maps?

Custom map generation is kind of broken at the moment from what I have been reading. It is too standard and not enough on the random. Town sizes are limited severely. I would check the thread on RWG maps and see if there is one you liked and run one of those if that suits your fancy.

Thanks! The biggest issue is that different Linux setups create slightly different folders structures, to a point. That and the documentation out there on backups is a bit limited/flawed which created more confusion. I think its figured out at this point.

Not really, the folder structures do not change that much, only the name of services and shells used.

In the recent past there has been a great push to standardize across distributions. Things have not changed other than the movement to using flatpaks in kde plasma/debian flavors. Flatpaks are a way to make things more windows like and get more folks to ditch microshaft.

Any variance in backups stems from where folks are not running things like a production server and do not adhere to industry standard practices. Some industries disdain industry standards like medical and government due to the legacy systems they use.

Plus linux, os hardening, bash shell scripting, python scripting are not really taught. And anlot of folks do not know how certain actions should be done procedurally
