I am having a blast with this game. It's great

I really enjoy the biome progression and this leads me to believe that they can do interesting quest progression. I was annoyed looking for radiated mushrooms at one point but I figured it out (better at dusk or at night but more risky then). I look forward to more complex quests as the devs make a story.

I dislike storms because they are unpredictable and passive. But I am delighted that I can just turn them off. The flexibility of the game settings keeps me happy playing vanilla.

That is why I love the new storm mechanics. I love them being unpredictable - making me change what I am doing to stay protected during these storms
Agreed, everything in this game felt pretty predictable after 1000 hrs. This adds an "oh sh!t" element, aside from the random jump scare that was missing
 
2.1 will have a variety of storm adjustments. Like longer warning, less often and shorter duration. Duration will also not increase if day length set higher than the default as 120 minute days doubled the storm duration, which was not intended. We had a short experimental this time around, so we are still trying to squeeze the most fun out of these new features.
