Are we not able to modify in-game setting for crossplay?

When me and my brother tried to join it showed that I couldn't join. No xml changes or anything. However after setting the settings to default. Like no time of day changes or loot abundance or anything

Is this temporary or is this set in stone?

There's been talk on Reddit as well about this issue. I hit it initially, and like you - had to set EVERYTHING to default settings to get rid of the "non-standard settings" error on PS5. That's gunna ■■■■ friends off that don't want zombies sprinting and running etc.

We're still unable to connect though - console gets a general timeout error. PC connects just fine over the net. Trying to troubleshoot and find answers on something so fresh is frustrating.

The settings you choose MUST be settings that are available on the console to pick when starting a save.

I got some details from another server admin and have Pinned them in Support.

The timeout error on consoles usually indicates a port forwarding issue. PC (steam) isn't quite as security fussy as consoles.

Yeah, thanks man. I did figure it out - I had to forward a few more ports through 26900-26904. The clue was the fact the server was visible and connectable, but just wouldn't, so the 26900 traffic was getting through, just not what was required for a full connection.

It's this sort of stuff that should be well documented for "Required" when such a large feature is released. People shouldn't need to google for hours, use ChatGPT or be a network engineer to get basic gameplay working. Same as all these ifs and buts for the specific settings the server needs to be running for crossplay to work. Why wouldn't they be listed anywhere, especially when 3 specific settings are already listed.

Anywhoo - not gunna rant, new features, teething issues, etc. etc. Got there in the end, and have pumped many an hour into a smooth crossplay game.

It is partially because EoS has clamped down on the login window. Basically if your system clock (or the hosts) is 30 seconds different from internet time, there is at least a 50% chance that the authentication check will fail.

Is it not possible to play from different time zones?
Sure it is. Just make sure your clock is your time zone, and it is correct. If it is 3:15:30 at the NIST time server for your location, and your computer says that it is 3:14:48, there is a very strong chance you will get an authentication timeout error.
