Regarding vehicle locks

Thank you as always for your great work on the development. Everyone in Japan really loves 7 Days to Die.

Hello

I noticed that when I place a vehicle (such as a minibike or 4x4) it automatically unlocks, allowing anyone to use or steal it immediately after placement.

Is this an intentional change in version 2.0? If so, can you explain the reasoning behind this action?

On multiplayer servers, vehicles are at increased risk of being stolen if players forget to manually lock them.

I'm wondering if there is a way (using XML, config or server settings) to keep player placed vehicles locked by default, like in previous versions.

Any help or explanation would be much appreciated!

Yes, it is intentional. You can always lock it yourself.

The change is because this game is primarily a co-op game and we've been asking for years to not have it lock vehicles automatically. It's just a hassle when you want to borrow a vehicle from your teammate and it's locked while they are somewhere else on the map.

As far as playing MP with people who are not your friends, you'll just have to remember to lock it (you only have to lock it once as long as you don't pick it up) or else just pick it up every time you stop. Might be a hassle, but with more people playing co-op with friends, the devs apparently decided it was better to place the hassle on the smaller percentage of players instead of the larger percentage of players.

I appreciate your response. Thank you.

I think it would be a great improvement if we could customize the icon color that indicates whether a vehicle is locked or unlocked. Also, it would be very convenient if allies or party members could access vehicles regardless of their lock status, just like with doors and storage.

It would be greatly appreciated if there were a system where we could configure the default lock state of vehicles—either locked or unlocked—through XML or similar settings.

As a person playing on a dedicated server, I was happy when the transport became closed by default. In older versions (A17, A18, A19) it was open, which was a bit of a nuisance.

It would be nice to have an option in the client settings to specify what state I want the transport to be in by default. So I agree with nameko.

I completely agree with nameko's opinion.
I don't think there's much demand for renting cars in closed multiplayer, and in open multiplayer all players are at risk of theft. I would like not only cars but also storage and doors to be locked by default.
If for some reason it is appropriate for them to be unlocked, I would like it to be possible to switch the initial state using xml or something.

I think a game option is a good idea for the locks. It would make sense so that it covers both those who want to play co-op and those who play with random people who can't be trusted.

Oh, so now having to remember to lock a vehicle is a PVP update? You really are reaching now. Have you given up on actual PVP stuff and are just trying to find a way to feel better and believe that they are listening to you? Sheesh.

Big thanks to everyone posting here! Really appreciate it!
As the owner of a PvE server, I’ve seen numerous instances of vehicle theft and unauthorized base raids. These actions go against the spirit of PvE and create a negative experience for players who just want to enjoy the game peacefully.

While those who play on multiplayer servers may be fewer in number compared to single-player users, I kindly ask that we not be forgotten or disregarded. Our experiences and feedback matter too.

If this behavior could be made configurable through settings or XML, it would be a win-win situation for everyone.
