Alternative DLC Ideas

Hearing the Fun Pimps want to put DLC into 7D2D got me thinking. What would people actually buy that doesn't impact the game too much? Cosmetics is the quick answer that almost everyone is going to think of. FP is already doing a set of cosmetics for the players. The thing is, who sees themselves? I almost never look at me. Why do I care what I look like even in a multiplayer server? So two ideas.

First idea isn't DLC actually. Instead of trying to sell to the players, why not see if you can lure in a corporate sponsor? Float out there an offer to sell a building. If someone is willing to shell out the big bucks the FP will negotiate to put in a new POI that uses the company branding and showcases any product they want. Cost is going to vary depending on how much work it will take. Payment is a one time thing. Sponsors could also pay for items to be branded in game. Make sure to add into the contract that game assets once introduced won't be removed from future versions unless FP is paid to remove them.

So the actual DLC idea is to make alternative zombies skins. I think its possible to change some aspects of the Zombies already, like a lot of zombies have custom shirts. Make Zombie DLC packs in themes and it alters some of the common zombies. A Greaser pack could be fun. A track suit workout costume set would be interesting. Wrestling costumes. Clown costumes. Sports pack. Nightclub pack. Pajama pack. Make it to where the player can assign a percentage to each skin pack so you can have multiple sets of skins working on a server.

To your first point, a LOT of people care what they look like to other people even if they don't see themselves often. And if you watched the forums, you'd see a ton of people who have commented about wanting clothes back so they could customize their look more or who have commented on how they like or don't like how each armor we have now looks or how they want more choices for how they look. People DEFINITELY want to customize how they look even if they rarely see themselves. Also, faatal commented that they are working on making a 3rd person view available in the future.

Putting in branding into the game can be a nightmare in legal stuff. It could be done, but I'm not sure they'd want to go down that route. It also is a big turnoff to a lot of people to see what amounts to ads in their games and can actually hurt sales.

Zombie skins as a DLC is certainly a possibility. I don't remember if they've said they might do that, but it would be easy enough to do as a DLC. Other kinds include other types of cosmetics - vehicle skins, weapon and tool skins, etc.

The main thing (my opinion) is to not sell DLC that improve your ability to play the game because then it becomes a pay to win game, which is a horrible thing. So no selling better perks or better weapons or stuff like that.
