can the builders give me a little advice?

normally i build my bases on stilts with a cleared field but i wanted a huge house with a tall outer wall so me and my friend grinded for wood and cobbles to build one! the house itself i am pretty pleased with but because it is more than double my usual builds there is a lot of empty space. my question is; what kind of decorating can you suggest for the empty spaces? the work room is fine since it will just be for various stations, also already pretty pleased with the kitchen but the bedroom, living space(stair-side), celler, garden and rooftop are all in dire need of help

 
I'm not an artistic person; but for me the biggest improvement overall would be paint. You have the distinct look of a wooden box for the most part. At least make floors different to walls, different to ceilings. Maybe carpets where they'd fit.

Add some "contouring" things where you can; like small frames around windows and doorways, maybe (partial) railings for the rooftop etc etc; and test out good color combos for those.

The beds in your bedroom are a funny idea, but they look a little bulky. Maybe explore raising the floor around them by half a block or some such?

oooh! raising the bedroom floors actually might be a pretty good idea. the only concern is plates and half blocks are dead space so i cant put any furniture down there

Yeh, it takes some thinking for sure. There are quite a few combo-shapes for half blocks, which might allow you to make some "furniture" there; like something with a pillar on it to work as a center leg for a round table. But I'd prolly stick to raising the immediate area around the beds with a simple stair up - try a corner pole, flat on the floor next to a half block. Or something to that effect.
 
If you're on PC, I'd recommend getting a mod or two that add more decorations. UBBE is a good one, but there are some other good options out there. Having more things to use makes it easier to fill in a space. I've also added a bowling alley to a base, which is easy to do. Adding a bathroom also helps to fill space. And you can add an extra bedroom or two as spare bedrooms to fill space if you need more space used up.
 
You can make all sorts of furniture. All you need is nails and wood. I like to make barrels and put lamps on them. You can make bed, desk, lamps. Lots of stuff. Don't forget putting plants in. You can hang them from the ceiling, put them on the floor, and you can build furniture to put them on.

Yea I really like using the barrels to hold my drinks. I usually add a kitchen island also to fill in empty space.

Building a fireplace is also a nice touch. I also like adding a loft area that overlooks the cabin.

the kitchen in a different build i made has the triple barrel in the corner but we've just been putting our drinks in the water cooler x''D somehow it got relegated to the burnables-for-the-fire storage
