Saving my Base !!

Sentry01

New member
Hi,

I have just started building a house in one of my Worlds . When I have finished it I would like to save it so I can then add it to any other worlds I create.

Can I save my house as a prefab and place it in the local prefab folder ?

If so how do I go about saving my house ?

Any help would be very much appreciated. 😁

Yes, with effort. The World Editor (which came with the game) will let you save your structure. You are likely to find you need to watch a video, or find detailed instructions, to learn how to do it. I think it goes something like this:

  • You select a region around it (Z key), hit ESC, and then there's a save option.
  • You find what you saved in your Local Prefabs folder.
  • You launch the Prefab Editor so you clean up your POI

Get rid of any player blocks, like your workstations, storage chests, lighting, traps, electricity and probably a few more blocks

Those player blocks cause problems in a POI. There are POI-specific versions for some of those things, but not all.

[*]make it conform to POI placement rules so that RWG can find it and know what to do with it, such as:

  • appropriate tags, appropriate size, appropriate Tile expectations,

[*]If you want to place it into worlds manually, then you still have to clean it up, but you can ignore POI placement rules. You would use the World Editor to place it into a new world.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Depending the size and how much hassle it would be, I'm sometimes willing to convert something into a POI. If you made a massive tower of power with all sorts of wild stuff, then I'd pass, but it's a reasonable house I'd be willing to talk. If nothing else I could give advice.

There is a good video from Eko on YouTube for saving your base as a prefab.  It is from an older version of the game, but it works the same.  Search YouTube for saving 7D2D base as prefab and you should find it easily enough.
