That would be cool. We need more ranged attack zombies. Doesn't have to hit hard, but could be a faster zombie that has a quicker projectile attack that is more accurate than the cop. Maybe gives you that frost screen effect if it hits you with it.That's sounds so cool. Maybe it throws icicles or something? I guess we'll see soon enough.
Working on lightning right now for storms. Making it player specific for storms and not using the old weird global triggering that was averaging player positions and accidentally including non player entities. Many times when I make changes I end up rewriting parts of systems that were done years ago by programmers that no longer work here. Also trying some shader tweaks.
Next I have to get the Frostclaw temp model replaced and setup and finish his attack, which is a new type as he throws something at you.
Hell yes!! More zombies/enemies the better!!
Well 2 points to make here.Be careful what you ask for, were getting 2 new tiers above radiated but no new weapons to fight them with, so its going to be even more bullet spongy than it already is since there is no upgraded weapons to deal with the new tiers. Unelss they lower the health of every zombie and the new tip tier has current radiated health while radiated have about half what they do now.

I loved that plus the extra biomesI remember on legacy version(console) it would snow in the pine forest every time you turned around, that was probably the only thing I didn't like about the game back then lol
I liked the pine forest, for the trees and wolves, and showing getting closer to the snowI remember on legacy version(console) it would snow in the pine forest every time you turned around, that was probably the only thing I didn't like about the game back then lol
That image is from the game. That is what the Frostclaw looks like and that screen effect is real. Andres, our particle artist, has added for each biome hazard, screen effects and screen particles. He is now doing the same for each storm type.I know that it is concept art.
Basically. Storms are an extension of the weather system. They trigger based on very high precipitation amount. Precipitation, temperature, etc all ramp up and down, so you would see rain/snow before and after a storm. There will be some type of messaging, but that still needs to be done.@faatal Will the new dynamic severe storms introduced by normal severe weather conditions?
I hope it will be like:
sunny > cloudy > rain > (maybe storm) > cloudy > sunny
instead of
sunny > rain > sunny or
sunny > Severe Storm > sunny again
There should be some kind of transitioning from good to bad weather. Thats a thing that disturbs me even now, the weather changes always very quick. Which can be the case but not always.
Is there an indicator that severe storm is coming? most easy one would be a server message, another subtile option would a distinct cloud formation before such an event (like the reddish moon before bloodmoon).
If that's the actual in-game image, that's pretty nice. However, the frost effect seems to take up too much of the screen. Maybe that is just because it's such a small image? If it actually takes up that much of the screen, maybe you can ease it back a bit? I prefer seeing nice graphics on my screen, not blurred or "icy" effects. It's one reason I always turn off any kind of motion blur in games. I like clean images and not stuff that's blurred or whatever. I don't mind that effect at the edge of the screen. I just would not want it taking up so much of the screen. I mean, if you look at the top and bottom of the image where the effect is furthest on the screen (towards the left of the image), the effect is about 50% of the screen height (25% top and 25% bottom, with 50% in the middle that's clean). That's a bit much. Maybe cut it in half?Basically. Storms are an extension of the weather system. They trigger based on very high precipitation amount. There are 2 levels of effects for biome hazards and the screen effect system stacks, so we can mix and match combinations.Oh, thank you twice. Will the overlays be able to be cumulative. So the worse off you are the
more your screen vision is affected.
