PC Is my base too much for current 7 days?

How does Valheim run on console? I'm curious since I only played it on PC. Got bored of it with the Mrs after we killed the Mist biome boss lol
Xbox one its very stuttering at times, running through swamp at night was worse than a late stage horde night with 7 days. On Xbox X runs fine and smooth, although I have not played scorched update.

Buddy is really looking forward to update and wife will play again if it runs well for us, so here is hoping it runs well

Lax I would add

Stranded deep or raft or Ark and remove green Hell... spent to much time washing and plant hunting to bandage whatever bug bite I had

People who buy the S usually don't have the money to buy at a premium price. I would guess they would rather look for a used X
as previously stated, and easy to fact check, there are more "s" owners than "x" owners, but, really, if people refer to it as 50/50 it would be close enough, because it basically is in North America.

I would hope that they were aware of this before the relaunch. the "s" is not a small minority of the xbox consoles. I wouldn't expect the average person to know that...but, I would expect them to know the market, before the relaunch.

It is not realy relevant for this discussion how many X or S boxes are sold. The S targetted budget gaming or grandparrents buying cheap Xmas gifts, not well informed gamers wanting to upgrade from the One. The point is that from the first announcements there was a fear that the S would hold back game development being the weakest link that have to be included. If developers would have got the freedom to skip the S most would be very pleased!

As a console gamer that upgraded from 4 Pro to PS5 I knew my system would have certain restrictions and I delayed several games untill I got the 5 and for some I even waited till they got optimized for the 5. Why? To prevent getting frustrated over poor performing games when the PC specs indicated it would be too much for a last gen machine. i realy think you could save yourself a lot of frustration if you upgrade to an X, PS5 or PC. Or just stick to lighter games, the S is just not suitable for heavier games.

honestly: not really relevant to this conversation? all of the insults to "s" owners intelligence aside...do you really think that? or is this just an extension of Hammerdano said it so I must oppose?

the "s" is half of the market...so if people want to sell their games on xbox they will have to actually thoroughly optimize that game. It is actually better for the everyday gamer, because, your game was made to work better and use less resources. Instead of the normal blunt force trauma style of depending on the system to have an over abundance of cpu and ram to abuse...to make up for clunky coding.

that said...xbox probably shot themselves over this move. a lot of people who bought the "S" will probably not buy another xbox...tho with the direction gaming is taking, consoles might be a thing of the past anyway.

Lol...I absolutely luv that game. I only play on the hardest setting, "Green Hell", for maximum punishment! Lol

The market share of the xbox s has no relevance because Microsoft made a rule that if someone wants to release on their console they have to support both consoles. So the S could actually have had zero buyers worldwide and still game companies would have to support it. What is relevant is the total market share of all xboxes, because if that were too low, game companies could have decided to not support it at all.

where's the class action lawsuit? where are the dev companies that have protested this...brought it to public attention?

no where.

It does matter...it goes back to what I asked a page and a half ago. If they knew that console hardware is just not good enough why did they do this release? why keep taking our money if the console is the problem? and consoles are the problem is something that gets said, and or implied, constantly.

It seems a legitimate question. TFP had the same opinion of the last gen consoles. I have had more than one staff member tell me that it is the console I own and not TFP who are to blame for how this plays for us. Well, it is reasonable to assume that, as a company, they did do a viability study, to understand the market and potential problems. or in plain english...they should have known that the "S" was half of the xbox market and it is more limited in cpu and memory than the "x". Anyone working in the console porting business would definitely know that. So I really do not believe that TFP just didn't know...or is it that they once again over estimated their ability...and so...not their fault?

I noticed it doesn't even matter if someone agrees with you or not, you seem always to find a way to disagree or at least make them feel they disagree.

Good luck with your battle.
good grief...you go out of your way to tell me how I should be... instead of how I am. you skipped past the parts where you insulted people for the consoles they bought. you skipped past the arguments you could not counter...as usual. Don't act like we have never interacted. We don't have positive interactions...it goes both ways. Feel free to keep answering me, but, don't be surprised if you get what you give.

you skipped past the parts where you insulted people for the consoles they bought.
I did not insult people for their choices, I pointed out reasons why some people made choices. If you feel insulted, I believe that is you, defending a choice you once made that turned out to be a not so well thought over choice.

So if you feel we are not communicating well: English is not my native language, what's your excuse?

I am not sure if you doubt the facts I posted or simply want to know why there was no protest? What would be the lawsuit about?

The lawsuit can't be about abusing a dominant market position because the xbox does not have one. It is their own small app store where they can make almost arbitrary rules what they accept and companies have the choice to simply not participate. The costumers would have no chance either because they were informed that all games would play on X and S and even if not I don't see any grounds to bring Microsoft to court for limiting the ultimate scope of games on their platform.

Note that for most dev companies it doesn't matter for their game, because they simply can support 4k on the X and 2k on the S and their game will (approximately) scale well on both with some further optimization. But unusual games (games who need a lot more CPU power and RAM and much less GPU power) do not scale well. So the problem with the S is likely a **big** problem only for a few developers, a quite smaller problem for the majority

If you doubt this is true at all maybe read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Series_X_and_Series_S#Series_S_performance_problems

In that paragraph please note that "urging" is used in the first sentence but later "requirement". Also see that the following paragraph how Larian first did not release BG3 because they could not support Microsofts rule of feature parity, and only highest-level talks allowed it to violate the feature-parity rule.

At the time they made their decision to publish on console they presumably did not have the level of knowledge to exactly know about how difficult it would be. And even if they knew exactly how difficult it would be they could have decided that it was worth it, for reasons like

A) increasing income

B) satisfying players of the telltale games

C) getting it into the hands of more players

D) fullfilling whatever promises they made.

E) Preventing @%$#storms of xbox owners generally. If they had not supported the xbox at all, protests would have come as well as xbox users would have felt left out.

F) taking an opportunity. For example its possible that the publisher they found made demands for an xbox release.

G) maybe more?

I don't own a console, I don't know how bad it plays on the S. Without that knowledge I can not judge whether it was a mistake for TFP to do this. And it is quite impossible to judge from a handful of protesters here on the forum whether there is widespread discontent on the S or not. I seem to remember some people posting that the performance is problematic but they are happy they can play it.

You have the opinion that the game is unplayable on the S it seems. Well, I have heard that previously from PC players as well when I had fun with the game and for example did not mind a delay whenever I opened a menu. I also had a time where FPS tanked severly in horde nights or in cities. I didn't go on the baricades then either and had fun with the game. Players subjective requirements in that regard (as well as their requirements for graphics quality) are hugely different. This is why there is a time period for customers to give back a game. Does TFP think the game is unplayable? If not, they won't think it was a mistake to make those xbox owners happy who have fun with the game in its current state.

I can't speak for the others when they critisize the S. But if I would have to fix some blame somewhere I would be blaming Microsoft for splitting their console into two versions with very different capabilites and limiting the ways developers can react to that. And when I read Dead Smartys post above I think I clearly see the same direction of argument: He said "The S targetted budget gaming or grandparrents buying cheap Xmas gifts". Is there any reason to doubt that the S was targeted at budget gaming? "Budget gaming" means either someone doesn't have the money to buy a better version or gaming isn't worth that much to him to pay for the better version. There is no insult in there, it is a fact. If I had to buy a car today I would never buy a porsche, I would buy a cheap car. Have I insulted myself now?

I guess I am not being clear.

I will speak to my experience on the "s" with this game. It plays fine below tier 4 POI's. Above that, it is stutter and lag. Can I have fun...up to a point. As long as I don't play in high level POI's.

Am I tired of hearing staff say that it's my fault for buying the game on anything other than a PC? yup...more than. TFP released this on console even knowing how many drawbacks the consoles have. So it is their problem to fix.

I think You are correct, you should look at the console comments on TFP's posts. I am not alone in my opinions, those people just don't bother coming here... this is something I have pointed out before.

I do get that I am not going to get a direct answer to THAT question about why put it out on consoles if they suck that bad.

it is a sincere question...it should make a person at least pause for a minute, but, I am not going to get a honest answer. So I will give my opinion: they did it partially for the money they lost out on, but, the bigger reason imo, they did it because they could not just tell the gamers that they could not give them a comparable version on console. It was ego. the same ego that leads them to over promise, to under estimate how long it will take them. Just dip@%$# ego over and over again.

This is a PC game that should have remained a PC game. The Telltale version was them needing money to keep the PC game going...this version is them unable to let go of a project that should not have been undertaken. EGO and bs...the true fuel of TFP.

The Telltale version was them needing money to keep the PC game going.

Incorrect again. The TellTale verion exists because TellTale approached TFP about doing it.  TFP only got 5% of the sale after the 35% cut that Sony and MS took. After TellTale went under, they might not have even been getting that.

The TellTale version did very little to support the PC version of the game, and what little they may have made on it got all used up plus some in the fight to regain the rights to the assets after TellTale went bankrupt.

In the end, it was discovered that TellTale was already on very shaky ground, and they were mostly trying to make bank on a product to support everything else they were doing wrong. If this information was in any way publicly known at the time, I am certain TFP would have never agreed to the endeavor. TellTale managed to keep it hidden until literally right before they collapsed completely.

It's like you make up these little stories in your head and treat them as fact, when they are extremely far from the truth.

Indeed, even on more powerfull consoles busy POI's will get you some stutter. But sofar it was never unplayable, not even in the wasteland. Note I have not done all POI's yet but no huge problems sofar during horde night or in POI's.

And yes, it is a PC game. And maybe it should only have launched on capable consoles only but I'm happy to play it on a PS5.

Skipped some stuff there...as per usual.

Where is it published, independent of this site, that Telltale approached TFP? I would like to read that.

I did go back over the reddit...what remains of it anyways. Over and over TFP state that they are a PC gaming company that cannot afford to do a console port. Hardly a leap that they were open to taking a deal even though they had already stated that consoles were too inferior for their game. Not crazy to think they needed a cash infusion to get them over the hump. 2018 is when PC sales really soared and kept climbing. especially because of the modding community.

So while you disagree with my opinion... at least I can support my argument.

what I don't understand is why they did this console game...once again, if half of the consoles lack the physical ability to meet the demands of this game...why even release it on console? why not explain that consoles just cannot handle the game...so sorry. The Telltale version was already dead. this version did not exist...why keep throwing bad money after good to release a product that will never live up to their hype? that only hurts them as a company.

I heard this at a time when nobody could assume it might be an important question to lie about.

They said they had no experience to do a console port, not that they can't afford it. Please give a link where this is said with those exact or equivalent words

Hardly a leap that they were open to taking a deal even though they had already stated that consoles were too inferior for their game.

And here again things TFP definitely didn't say.

At the time of the telltale deal 7d2d was a much smaller game and much less resource intensive. The consoles were not too inferior then and this version even ran fine on the old xbox one, right? If there hadn't been serious bugs that never got fixed because of the telltale bankruptcy like the xbox save bug the port would have been a success story.

Not crazy to think they needed a cash infusion to get them over the hump. 2018 is when PC sales really soared and kept climbing. especially because of the modding community.

I don't see any evidence after we remove all the quotes that seem to be pure inventions. Nothing but speculation that could be true, or not.

I have the game on PS5 and on PC, i can go into all 5 skull+  POI's on my PS5 and I have virtually no lag or issues with the game. So its a good possibility that its their system F'ing up and they want to blame everything but their system for it. That's just my 2 cents worth.

Im on X and there is lag.

Night waistland, high tier, horde night it can get you killed....

alone in forest during the day cutting a tree down it can stutter and I'm now looking at the sky, no big deal

No game made deaths today. I just hope V2 improves it so the wife will give it a shot again

I play on the Xbox Series X and like others also experience lag and constant stutters. But for me, even with the lag I still luv the game. The gameplay is so enjoyable that I bear with the current lag in hopes that future optimizations will make it more playable.

I also understand that even with future optimizations the console hardware is still limited and will never be able to get the same performance as a powerful PC. But I just luv the game. Haven't really seen another game that offers this type of gameplay so I stick with it despite the poor performance.  Can't really say that for too many games.

My gaming library has over 300 games and I keep coming back to 7 Days. Some hate it, others like me don't mind it at all.
