PC Problem with book share

after playing for many hours in coop, and sharing books to go up a single level, my friend has abandoned the game forever due to work issues and schedules incompatible with mine. I have not been able to cook and create more weapons, because I do not have the knowledge. it was frustrating to start all over again. you should share knowledge if you belong to a group. it is a frustrating problem

Someone losing a coop player is a very seldom event. If that doesn't happen (the normal case) separation of knowledge is actually improving co-op game play because everyone in a group has a role to fill and is useful to the group.

And it doesn't present a death-loop or a dead-end, you simply have to invest into more perks than before, perk points and magazines are coming in at a steady rate if you are playing.

I am not a dev, just saying I doubt that TFP will change the game for such a reason. A survival game actually needs random and unexpected challenges to be really great (IMHO)

Why do you have problems creating weapons you need? Did you both perk into the same weapon type? Ouch. 😉.

Just look at it as a new challenge where you have to find ways to address it. If you don't want a spoiler stop reading

SPOILER WARNING

About weapons, there is always the alternative source of buying better weapons until you have found enough magazines to be able to craft the weapons again.

Getting good at cooking is quite easy as there are containers where you only will find cooking magazines, instead of all sorts of magazines. Just raid residentials areas and search every kitchen cupboard you come across. You will be cooking top stuff in a matter of days.

Add meganoth said, it isn't that difficult to get yourself caught up with magazines.  Look at it this way... If you start over, you have to find all those magazines, plus all that you already have, and do all the other resource gathering you've already done and so on.  If you just spend time collecting the magazines in your current game, you don't have to redo all the rest, so it is far simpler and far faster to stay in your current game.

I wonder if you'd consider making a proposal in the "Pimp Dreams" topic. Perhaps the idea would lead to an option where when a coop player reads a book, everyone in their group is considered to have read it. Then to balance it out, you get some fraction of the points towards that end? Or maybe the person that reads it get the point and all other players in the group have a 50% chance of getting the point.

EDIT: The idea being that the magazine doesn't go bad; they passed it around and/or learned from one another.
