So far I haven't found a few areas

The oat mill

The bear bar

The bakery

Vick harsions pawn shop.

Is it me or no. I'm om console if that matters

Two hours ago I could have checked for you. I was just looking at the kind of stuff. I believe they're all able to be placed, but I don't recognize some of them by name/description. That doesn't mean RWG will always select them. It kind of depends on your map settings as to what the odds will be.

If you ever do let me know. I started a run on navezgane and I see pois I know that existing but I'm like.... wait why haven't I seen this in random gen

Between this post and Lazman's survey of favorite POIs, you got me to pause my movie and get up off the couch. :)

I need to know the actual file name (or localization name) if I don't know them from the description.

The oat mill

That's "O'Mally Oats" ... business_burnt_01 ... 42x42 CountryTown ... Tier 2 ... Yes, RWG places it.

The bear bar

That's "The Bear Den" ... countrytown_business_03 ... 42x42 CountryTown ... Tier 3 ... Yes, RWG places it.

The bakery

"Pop's Pawn & Bel's Bakery" ... downtown_strip_09 ... 42x42 Downtown ... Tier 3 ... Yes, RWG should place it.

"Ma Baker & Sons Bakery" ... store_bakery_01 ... 42x42 Commercial ... Tier 2 ... Yes, RWG should place it.

Vick harsions pawn shop.

"Vick Garrison's Pedipawn" ... commercial_strip_03 ... 60x60 Commercial ... Tier 3 ... Yes, RWG should place it, but larger Commercial POIs can run into Tile density issues.

Because of the larger number of POI these days, many POI may not appear on a map.  And because of RNG, it may take multiple generations to get a map that had a specific POI using RWG.

This is especially true for town POI because some POI have very limited options for placement, and they fight for that placement with other POI.

I am not at my computer, so can't check the details on those specific POI, but they may just have limited placement options.

AFAIK, all vanilla POI can get placed besides the test POI.

Edit: Looks like zztong already checked while I was typing.  And he also added the density issue that I forgot about as another cause for a POI not to spawn.

I run a lot of RWG 8k maps with default settings and my modlet -- because I'm testing my modlet. You get pretty close to everything with an 8k map. Off the top of my head, places where you may not see everything are:

  1. Industrial POIs. The district is small and competitive.
  2. Commercial POIs. The larger POIs sometimes get squeezed out for density.
  3. Downtown POIs. TFP is battling density here and flooding the place with filler POIs.
  4. Western Town POIs. There's not a lot of Tile variety because the towns are really small.

Conversely, areas you get lots of repetition:

  1. Wilderness.
  2. Rural POIs.
  3. Residential.

If you constrain your map to 4k you'll likely never see everything placed.

Have you checked that most are spawning on 8k?  Or does it just seem that way?  I know I am usually using your POI and some others, and I don't do RWG, but I can quickly get a count of placed POI versus unplaced POI in Teragon (I could use it to check a RWG map as well) and I'll usually have a few hundred not placed on 8k (maybe around 1/4 of the POI I have... I'd have to actually check my numbers because I can't remember right now).  Obviously with no custom POI, a higher percentage will get placed, but I would still expect 100+ not being placed on most 8k maps.  I'm just wondering if you have had a different experience with it.

My impression is formed as I check on my POIs. I fire up the POI Teleporter feature, type in "zztong_" and run through the list comparing it to my spreadsheet and count how many times each appears. When one doesn't appear, I check on its competition. Since I have POIs in most/every district and size (including some sizes TFP doesn't support) I think I get a good feel for how RWG is doing, but I could be missing something.

I do have a Python script that runs numbers of POIs and Tiles on all the maps I have generated. I forgot about that when I wrote the paragraph above. I don't have it point out what is missing. I should add that.

If you do that often with your POI, I would suggest using Teragon to get the counts for you. It'll give you a detailed spreadsheet format (in HTML) of any map you make, and can be done with any imported map as well.  I made a tutorial video about World Statistics that explains how to get that report.  It could save you a lot of time and it gives you details about Tags for POI and POI Markers for tiles, making it easy to see why it might not appear (such as no role getting placed that supports that POI).

That sounds handy. I'll have to hunt you down in Discord soon.

I do have a Python script that is close to generating that kind of stats across all the worlds I have generated.
