PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Well yeah, of course. It just kind of sounds like Sony and M$ haven't said anything to TFP yet. ("Hey this looks great" or "Ok, we noticed X, you need to fix this first before we can approve it")
I doubt that's the case.  In the past, TFP said they were negotiating with them for approval to release on the consoles.  I'm sure it would be the same thing for crossplay on dedicated servers.  A process of back and forth negotiation where Sony and Microsoft state what needs done and TFP works to achieve those things and then resubmit and so on until approved.  Whether or not Sony and Microsoft give specific details on what needs fixed or they just give a general comment like "security needs to be improved", it would still be a back and forth.  I doubt TFP submitted this for approval back in at least December and haven't heard a word.

How many new perks are there in the 2.0 update?

How many of the old ones have been moved to the "general" tag? 

This update just became huge, so the delay makes sense even for winter 2025

 
I will say I'm a big fan of some form of general attributes returning, gives a little more flexibility and customisation when it comes to picking perks, 2.0 looks like it's heading in a good direction keep up the good stuff.

Also curious how the new zombies are gonna be, of course more health and damage is a given but if the ai is gonna be different is the good question or how different.

 
@meganoth I just read the Storm's Brewing 2.0 update.  Now I totally get why you asked me that question? 🙂

If that image is it, "although, I still like the feeling given at "0 dark 30" but if you pull this off, I don't care if you turn zombies

into lemmings, and direwolves into unicorns,  I'd still be as happy as "un cerdo en la Scheiße".

I adjusted it in photoshop to get an idea of the 0 light setting I use.

Can we make Water purifiers cheaper? :) maybe 3000 or 4000
You'll have to raise your bartering before they even consider it...  :heh:

  • We have added functionality to allow zombies to spawn and crawl out of smaller 1 meter spaces and crawl under tighter areas.
This will be REVOLUTIONARY for everyone's BM bases!  :hat:

  • All attributes have 10 perks with new and improved perks
  • Each perk has 5 levels" 
    I assume this means 60 :)
    perception 10
    strength 10
    fortitude 10
    agility 10
    intelligence 10

They did sell the game saying we would get dedicated servers.
I think you are barking up the wrong tree here: Platform holders decided to accept this game is in the current state in their shop and should have been aware of the intentions for dedicated servers and crossplay. This should have the consequence that they should allow this feature or at least be very specific about why the feature is denied, wich they are not so dev's like TFP are getting ff'ed just as much as we do by Sony and MS.

I don't have any insider knowledge about the reasons here but if I had to guess it might have to do with the fact that TFP does not limit the online experience to official servers that are policed and managed by TFP itself. Every single public dedicated server in existence is managed by private individuals with zero oversight by TFP.

Some have suggested that it is a conflict between Sony and Microsoft but that can't really be it since currently crossplay between xbox and PS5 is already possible player to player. That issue (if it was really there) has already been resolved. The issue has to be about server security and perhaps the console companies don't look at private dedicated servers as being acceptable (despite the fact that official servers for many games are often the worst servers that exist for those games...).

Just a guess though.

 
Will there be the long-promised new animal models in 2.0 that are still missing, like Grace 
Good question. Also missing is the new coyote model and the pig.

Is the boar getting a remodeling? Or is the pig replacing the boar?

We'll know soon enough... I guess. 😁

 
I saw somebody mentioned they hope miner 69er and motherload are in the general perks tab, I'd also heavily agree with this as these are almost mandatory if you want to build your own things in a timely manner and mine, same goes with farming related things and the sort I hope, going a run when I don't start strength always sucks as I'll have to spec into some strength to actually break open boxes or get some resources etc.

 
I am amazed that half the comments on this new dev diary are complaints about what isn't included.

That concept art looks sick! Happy to see new zombies and zombie types like the charged and infernal. Something tells me you may not want to melee the charged zombie

There are quite a lot of perks that could benefit from neutrality, like daring adventurer,  parkour,lucky looter, treasure hunter, salvage operations, All the fortitude ones except the first three are actually general in purpose, Then ALL the armours should be neutral, all the general intellect ones too and also arguably run and gun, rule 1 cardio, barter and charismatic nature, which is quite bland in solo gameplays.

So *less than 10* probably means that they maintained most of the actual inbalance for funsies but detached the most gameplay-compelling ones.

That means Miner69r, Mother Load, Parkour, Lucky looter, Living off the Land, and I would probably guess.... stuff like Daring adventurer. I bet they wouldn't dare to strip so many more perks into the general tab, even though armors and ALL the healing should be there. Heck, aside from the combat perks and some very specifically related, most should be in the general tab. "Very very specially" the armor perks: light, medium and heavy should be general.
