Xbox X -- "continue game" is greyed out and cannot be clicked on to load and play.

One thing you have to remember…. If you’re not on a PC and there are real issues on consoles regarding 7d2d the fun pimps don’t give a @%$#!  You paid for the program and it ends there.  But rest assured that the f’n chickens, rabbits and vultures look amazing and are 2nd to none when compared to other apocalypse games…

Lord, you're still stuck on the new animals? Lol. Such a broken record.

I can't even play the game! My game literally is messed up. I hit new game I don't even get the box with all the options to choose. The box goes away and I only see the title screen. Can't continue, can't join, can't anything.
Didn't they give consoles the ability to send in logs now? Maybe look into that. And also since this seems like it's a different issue than the original save game corruption issue it may be worth starting a new thread to post your issues in.

They fixed the issue, didn't they? As Jugginator said, it was a rare bug that they even struggled to repro. They fixed it, but there wasn't a way to fix the corrupted saves. You complained you couldn't play the game due to the bug, they fixed it so you can play, yet you still complain. I'd bet even if they had a way to restore the old saves you'd just find something else to fuss about.
No, they not fixed the original issue, they fixed API calls that was causing it, but the worlds that got corrupted are gone.

So...they fixed the issue then. They just couldn't fix the effects the issue caused. And it sounded like at the end it was technically an issue with MS's save system more so than a game issue.

i'm told that on console the "report" function in the menu is indeed sending the log file. Still players need to add a decent description of the events when using it and to be honest, typing a detailed, coherent report on consoles is still a huge effort for many console gamers. Maybe an addition with refference numbers to give additional info here might improve reoprts a lot.

They rolled back changes that introduced the issue, they “fixed” cause, but that wasn’t the outcome they promised. We’ve been told that our saves are preserved and can be restored. That was a big lie. The real issue is that the changes never been properly tested, rushed to implement and caused the loss of games for many.

What you are referring to is probably this post by a TFP tester:

Please notice that he made a guess (saying "it seems") about the cause that ultimately proved to be wrong. I won't reread the whole thread but AFAIR the problem turned out to be a some special feature of xbox that had to be turned off again, right.

Now mistakes like this happen everywhere. Probably he shouldn't have said "your saves are fine" when it wasn't guaranteed, but the language here is informal and people from TFP do not vet any communication through some customer department but answer straight when they think they can help.

Sorry to dissappoint you, but that simple sentence there wasn't supposed to be a promise.

Yeah, and to add onto that, getting the saves to not be able to be loaded was a very rare set of circumstances and an every rarer set corrupted them. In a lot of cases the saves on the cloud were fine, it was the rarer cases that corrupted both cloud/local. Still hard to reproduce it knowing what it is, but we're aware of it.

Not sure if this helps but I just filled around and in the options menu there is a network workaround I turned it on and then deleted my save files restarted my game and it now works

Huh! That's unexpected. Thanks for sharing, not sure how that would help as that option is for networking in-game (i.e. p2p), but I've learned not to judge weirdness if it works lol

So after reading all this content,  I also have been having these problems, recently started approx. 1 1/2 weeks ago :(

I messaged tgp and was given this link to keep updated on everything the same day I sent complaint

So for all the previous posts/folks have any of you had the problem resolved.? Is my case a new set of problems or the same thing still hanging around needing to be fixed yet?

The instructions for reporting bugs are thorough and precise for good reason. A bug can only be fixed if it can be reproduced. QA must be able to replicate the exact conditions that cause the bug. Otherwise it may look fixed when tested, when in reality there’s some other variable, different from what you have on your end, which is just masking the problem.

The game has changed by leaps and bounds since the legacy console edition, released in 2016 on an earlier generation of consoles. One shouldn't assume the same symptom - a saved game that can’t be continued - is the result of the same underlying problem.
All most 10 years later ....
