PC Is my base too much for current 7 days?

I play on a Playstation 5 pro.

In the attached images I show you my base which I have since v1.0.

Its located in the wasteland on one of 8k pregen maps where the map is divided in each biome across trader Joel in the middle city.

I have noticed that as soon as I am away from base for example doing a T6 Invested and coming back, as soon as I enter my crafting and storage area of my base the game crashes.

I believe that I had over 40+ crashes since the 1.2 update. Before this there was no issue.

Is there too much stuff in one single room that it crashes or something?

I have the exact same base on PC (ThinkPad with integrated graphics) (yes it runs on low with 50+ FPS)

and here there is no issue.

I'd assume the massive increase in hardware capabilities on my Playstation 5 pro this would be a breeze but I guess not.

With every crash I also notice that my drone and vehicle go missing when I restart the game. The drone miraculously returns after a couple of restarts but vehicles sometimes disappear and never come back. I've lost 4 motorcycle's and 3 gyrocopters so far (doing day 110+ so can remake them easily) but I loose all loot in them.

This causes me to not trust the inventory of these vehicles since it just might disappear.

I hope someone can point out the main issue causing the crashes because it kinda takes the fun out of the game

overloading a chunk can cause verticy errors

i dont play on ps5 but would be interested to know if you have access to your logs?

with 1.3 joining dedicated soon it would be important to be able to check the log for what error your getting.

judging by the pictures you have an godly amount of stations in that chunk so i supect that is the root of your issue.

Unfortunately I do not have access to logs, I could try and log in on my pc and join to see if it pops up there.

But why was there no issue on v1.1 and v1.0? I haven't done any changes to my base

Unfortunately, there was not a massive increase in hardware on the PS5 Pro and it was kind of misleading by Sony to say so. It might help in games like COD or other static games, but it was mostly a small boost to the GPU and a tiny boost to ram, where it needed a massive boost of ram.

Try reducing the lights in your base, and maybe replace the rubble underneath with a layer or cobblestone or concrete

Mostly, the PS5 even the pro has a tiny amount of ram available for games after the system/gpu get their shares of it, and everything you add like painting, fancy blocks, lights, will all use ram. When your ram runs very low, things will slow down, so just try cleaning it up a bit and reduce some lighting until you start getting better performance (especially workstations, if you don't need all of those cement mixers/forges/workbenches/etc, consider picking them and place them when you need them)

Jugginator mentioned the workbenches already but I also noticed quit a lot of storage units. Can imagine that this base is a bit heavy on inventory managemnt. Might it help to use less items with inventory?

Wat I ment was between my laptop with integrated graphics and the ps5 pro. I saw in task manager that 7 days took up around 5 gigs of ram when I played it.

Maybe this base is just too much and it's better that I restart my adventure. I'll have to try and build my castle in another play through.

I'm not sure if it is better to spread out my storage and crafting into different chunks  ( I guess they are 32x32 ) to increase performance?

After removing the majority of the lights I managed to stop the game crashing. It seems like having too much light in your base messes up the calculation and crashes the game.

Edit: as soon as the drone returned back to me the game crashed again

That's a shame. My very old PC could handle my large bases better than my brand new PS5pro. The game is not really suited for console, is it?

Yeah the lack of memory really does it. Consoles use an integrated GPU not a dedicated one, so it uses the system ram. That isn't that much of an issue if you have ample ram that's free, but the consoles do not (at least for memory intensive games such as this). For example, if I run the integrated GPU on my CPU that has one, the difference between 16gb and 32gb of ram is about 30 FPS on average, same for ram speed.

Lots of optimization work is being done though, so this isn't the final iteration by any means.

My apologies, but, posts like this really get me mad.

I read that and think.....so why keep releasing it on console? If you KNOW that console hardware just is not good enough...then why keep taking our money?

No need to be mad at anyone, except at the people buying Early Acces games without accepting the the possibility the game is in a rough state for another decade. People had fun with the old version as well as the new, they accept the flaws or just move on. And hoping for the best of course. If you can't do any of that then you better stay away from early acces in the future.

STATING THE HARDWARE IS PHYSICALLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH...is not the same as not having patience for EA.

As Dead Smarty said, plenty of people enjoy the game even though it's not in the best state at the moment. It does play very well for what it is; I've taken a look at Ark on the Xbox S and it was a 20 fps 800x600 resolution mess and I couldn't even tell what my character looked like, I'd like to say we've done a way better job already. We have a giant console user base/demand. There is a significantly larger group of players accepting lag and occasional crashes than being straight mad it doesn't run at 120 fps 24/7. Should we deny the majority of console players the game because a small group says it's not performant enough? That wouldn't make much sense.

You and Dead Smarty seem to be missing the point. IF the hardware is not good enough...why bother making an inferior version for console? and why lie about it?

Honestly, "it does play well for what it is"...wtf am I supposed to do with that?

I don't care about ARK or its development...it is not a voxel game and not the same developer... so apples and oranges...am i wrong?

Don't get me wrong...I am not rushing the roadmap...this conversation is about how good the product console can end up with...especially when the game was not written with the intention of being on console...the console hardware is insufficient according to the guys making the damn game. How are these not valid concerns?
