I play on pc using an xbox controller and have never had any issues. I took a break from 7dtd for about a month and now the bottom left trigger button doesn't work in game. It works on the splash screen and in other games but I can't do power attacks or place anything down in 7dtd. I have reinstalled the game and then reinstalled steam and the game again but its still the same and now I've run out of ideas.

Unsure what's going on there, all of my controllers work. You can try resetting your controller options to default in the settings, that will clear any old data issues that may have happened. The game's cleaning tool in the launcher also has a clear settings option, which will do the same.
