New zombie suggestions

1.) Rattler

low level/threat alone. Can only walk and it's appearance is mostly skeletal and it's weak. But can appear in great numbers. Ferals always spawn in groups of at least 3

2.) Bludgeoner

Normal zombie but weilds a severed arm or leg. Can hit with increased range and might throw their weapon at low health

3.) Devourer

Can eat the corpse of another zombie to boost speed and damage for a short time, eating a player corpse increases speed and damage more.

4.)  Treasureghoul

Runs away from players and only attacks animals. Carries higher tier loot. On blood moons they seeks out players nearby loot containers instead of the player themselves.

1 and 2 could be cool.

For 3 issues could be it taking into account the always walk setting or solo play and no player corpses. Would rather some other type.

4, does this game need a loot piñata enemy? Could be a new quest type boss. Hey we have a runner carrying a lot of goods that had to hole up in place x. We haven’t heard from them why don’t you check it out. RNG you either get there and have to rescue them or they are a zombie with all those sweet goods on them when you kill them in the POI.

I feel like it wouldn't be bad to have a loot pinata but maybe it instead it just has a higher chance to drop loot instead of just guaranteed.

We already have loot pinata zombies though: Zombie bear, dire wolf and demolitioner.

The demo appears pretty early and often during bloodmoons. Dire wolves a bit less so. I have yet to see a zombie bear during a bloodmoon in this version (V1.2 b27).

Oddly enough, the bear and wolf seem to be more common at night in the wastelands than during bloodmoons, and with default settings it seems to me they always pop a red bag on kill.

That is true.

Perhaps it could have a higher chance to drop loot? Or maybe it grants a increased amount of experience.

I don't think the average player can farm bears or wolves early on. And you have to be pretty well off to wander the wastes at night so something that is a early game equivalent could be fun

^ This i can get behind 100%

- Perhaps a night equivalent of the demo/dire/bear in the Pines but scaled for early game as you suggest.

Open area night hunting is always risky early game, but it is also very efficient and sometimes necessary for sustain - especially with animal tracker. A piñata light edition would add a good deal of fun to the early game risk/reward of night hunting.

On top, in between versions for desert, burnt forest and snow would also make sense.

Open hunting breaks up the monotony of running missions (after a while - especially if you already know the POIs), and since you never know what you are going to meet - if anything - also a good deal of rng.

Grace is an easy red bag, with just a bow and a few arrows you can get her.

That's not very comparable to the bear or wolf since they spawn naturally and on blood moons.
Tought you wanted to discus early game options? Free hunting wolves and bears at night isn't realy early game, Grace can be done relativly safe at day.

True but it's reliant on the poi being reset.

The wolves and bears just spawn naturally and you can kill like 5+ a night.

They could make it a nightly spawn but with reduced loot so it's balanced and not way too rewarding. Could be a good alternative for early horde nights too instead of the wolf. Better for new players since it's a huge target.

No, zeds in POI's will respawn over time and so will Grace. Even with chunk reset turned off.
That still isn't the same as being able to get 5+ boss kills a night.

Night time should be a challenge but also rewarding for people who can take it on outside of a base or hiding spot.

But other then looting more POIs at night early game doesn't really offer better rewards then killing zombies during the day when it's easier.

Bludgeoner would be awesome if they were wielding their own arm after it fell off :)

I've been readjusting audio, textures, and lighting, to make it a horror game. and one that I liked was creating the WhisperNaught,

He is a simpler sort of a combo voyeur and scout that likes to stay hidden. He basically has whispers, like in friday the thirteenth,

reverse whisperings, predator clicks, creepy giggles and other old suspenseful movie soundbytes. I'm trying to set it up so that when

he is around the event music plays sounds similar to the Psycho shower scene. For me soundbytes from before digital and CGI was

available were creepier. But probably boring today.
