The campfire is good in the beginning but a better cooking utensil would be so nicer for a permanent residence say like a potbelly stove or an electric oven that runs on generated electricity. The campfire just seems out of place in my base builds. I’m on console so mods are out and would like this addition to vanilla.

Did you try to disguise it in you build? There are several blocks you can use as front to make it look like an oven. Placing it on an iron storage box behind an iron hatch might give it a more modern touch until they come with a more modern cooker.

I agree as a starter the campfire is great but as you advance should be higher tiered cook crafting stations with added utinsils to unlock certaion foods and drinks etc. campfire should have bare minimum grilled cooked boild meats eggs water until you advance unlocking like you sau a cast iron stove then eventually a electic ove.n
