Considering I am pretty sure they have said their next game that they have started working on is not 7D2D 2, I don't think any "confirmed" rumors are real.
Someone was saying that once before, but that isn't what I've seen any confirmation of on the forum, and even faatal's comment prior to someone saying that seemed to indicate they had one new game being made, not two. Maybe there is a second one, but I think the person who was saying that was confused between the discussions relating to Bloodmoons and with the issues revolving around Unity when they tried changing the pricing model, as well as just comments relating to possibilities versus what is actually planned. Unless there is something specifically mentioned by a dev somewhere that says they are making 2 new games at the same time, I don't believe this is correct. They have two games in work. One in Unreal Engine which will probably not be released before Unreal Engine 6 and will be a new IP. And another game again in Unity based on 7 days tech but it will be a new IP also.
So yeah no 7 days to die 2.
What they meant with no voxel game was most likely that UE4 didn´t have that option. UE5 can have voxels. And they started with the UE game already like 3 years ago before UE5 i think.
Ah. Most of that was before I started watching those videos. We'll see if that continues to be the case since the original mentions were a few years ago and may not be correct anymore. The more recent post that is being used from 2024 from faatal may or may not be entirely accurate. Both posts are on the same day and both refer to using HDRP. It's quite possible that he was talking about the same game and that he mixed up Unity and Unreal due to responding to the questions. On the other hand, maybe it is still planned to do two games. But considering they are saying only a few developers for the Unreal game, it's unlikely that it will be a focus for a very long time, potentially not until after their next game is mostly completed. Anyhow, some interesting quotes in there that give some information that's a bit unclear, but good to see anyhow.@Riamus Watch the video mentioned in the post above mine. If i understood all correct the info with the two games comes from Interwiews on Stream and at Twitch Con and from the dev streams.
"Pure speculation" on his part, Temreki says, but entertaining speculation whether any of it pans out or not.I would recommend GNS recent summary. It may not be accurate but it will meticulously researched and thought out based on available sources.
This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was; what he was doing. ~ Yoda
Well...I wouldn't necessarily say more engaging. I mean...what are you comparing it to? 7DTD?It turns out the Redditor in question was full of @%$# and knew it. He deleted the post the same day after a bunch of people called him out with "links?", "source?".
Now, I recently played a very early access demo of a new zombie game called Vein. It's not a voxel game and I can see the benefits of it not being one. The environment is more immersive, such as a forest is actually reminiscent of a real forest. If they can iron out all the basics, I could see it being a more engaging experience, from a pure zombie apocalypse perspective.
Yes, and I said from a "pure zombie apocalypse perspective" not as a blanket survival game. I don't want a "survival" game as much as I want something closer to a zombie apocalypse simulator. 7 Days to Die is so far the best at that...at the moment.Well...I wouldn't necessarily say more engaging. I mean...what are you comparing it to? 7DTD?
I see. Yes, I've noticed the trend toward desiring "immersive," virtual simulations to roam around in as opposed to structured video games. Not sure what to make of that myself, but I tend to think it ties into the extinction of RPGs and the tech sector's obsession with building a "metaverse" they hope we'll prefer to spend our lifetimes in as opposed to living in reality. :crazy:I don't want a "survival" game as much as I want something closer to a zombie apocalypse simulator.
Me, too.I'm aware of Project Zomboid but isometric is a big turn off for me.
Didn't buy it, but watched a couple playthrus.. Plays like it's not voxel, no saving changes outside of land claims, no building outside of land claims and no claiming lands too close to POIs. So it's mostly soft-restricted to your base building.. gorgeous thou. How does that game handle its voxel nature?
