PC Just as unfinished as it was 4 years ago

Console vs PC is getting to be too toxic... PC think this game is great because they have been updated  so many times over the years...but did they really advance it? it is just as unfinished as it was 4 years ago. Sure you got to see new things, but, New skins and progression reworks are not progress from my point of view. But being told by PC bros that 1.0 Console Edition was not aimed at console players is wild. Being told we should just be happy because it is basically a new game to us is wild. The Fun Pimps teased that crossplay would be happening sooner than we think...I joined their discord to ask about it...go to the source I foolishly thought, but, it is just a wasteland...ask a console question get treated like an @%$#.

Edit: As proposed by this user, this is now split off into its own topic. -CC

Console vs PC is getting to be too toxic...personally I wish the threads were separate, and that they had even one mod who can see a console players point of view, but, even when you clearly state you are talking about console, you get a gaggle of PC fixated people chiming in with unconstructive comments. There's literally a roadmap that says when crossplay is coming. Console users usually get a cold reception because PC players have had to deal with years of them crying about the game not being updated and TFP abandoning the game, etc. And people asking questions that have already been answered.(see: roadmap).

Did you read the part where TFP teased it was coming sooner than later? I can't ask about that?Apparently that is a Nope. YES we have seen the roadmap...it also says all dates are subject to change. Both systems have their benefits and drawbacks...is it asking too much to not be treated like we are feeble minded idiots for playing on console? You guys are great at being casually condescending...do you even notice you doing it? From my point of view the gaming industry at large has been set back...we have to put up with games being unfinished or optimized...and we are supposed to wait years for the dev team to fix it after launch. I personally feel like that is because, Industry wide, they have seen from the PC base that they can do that...you guys don't care who fixes the game...so you let them slide and depend on modders to do it.

Lastly, TFP could have updated the game after they got the rights back in 2019. They CHOSE to re-release it as a "new" product because they saw how much money they left on the table the first time. 7 DTD sold the second most amount of copies of any Telltale release ever.

Lastly, TFP could have updated the game after they got the rights back in 2019.
This shows your ignorance.  No they couldn't have updated the game. All they got the rights back to was the ability to use their own assets on the consoles.  They didn't get access to the console port, or its code. And there is no way in hell the TellTale Games release could have been update much further in either case.

Hey thanks for ignoring the rest of it.

Are you actually in the know? or is that the version TFP have put out so you believe it? Because their estimates have been wrong about the timeline of events before.  That has been the TFP way. I dared to respectfully ask about console during the devs streams and got silenced and blocked. People regularly have comments deleted off their social media.

That information is available here in this forum, I had contacts in TellTale, and I am familiar with the rules of Sony and Microsoft's stores. If you bothered to do a little bit of research into actual facts, and apply common sense, you could be aware of this as well.

Fact 1. TellTale Games released their port as a finished product.

Fact 2. Sony and Microsoft have hard set rules about breaking existing saves with game updates. Basically, if you release a game as something other than Alpha/Beta/Preview, then updates must be compatible with the saves from before the update.

Fact 3. TellTale Games' port was based off of Alpha 14.7. Since it was released as a finished title, that meant that it could never get any of the progression, skill, or world updates from future versions.

Because of this, at best, the old TellTale Games release could only get some tidbits and features of any future PC builds and maybe some optimization. The update that was in final testing and roughly three weeks from release when TellTale went bankrupt would have brought some small amount of content from Alpha 16, and was going to have a good number of bug fixes and optimization. Namely a final end to the MD5 issue on Xbox consoles.  I was very disappointed that TellTale could not even pay Iron Galaxy enough to finish and release that before they fell to pieces. However the writing was apparently on the wall long before their collapse, they just kept painting over it so no one saw the graffiti.

And honestly, everything I just typed out, ALREADY EXISTS right here in this forum. You can also read a good bit of it in the developer information pages for each console store, and from a large number of news and information sites. You just refuse to see it.

I asked if you were actually in the know, or if you were just regurgitating...you came back with regurgitation...

You accidentally admitted they could have given console a little more, one last update or two, but, it would not have been much...that is what we have been saying about abandoning console. AND YES  The Fun Pimps still would have had a legitimate reason to put out a second version to Next Generation consoles, because of hardware necessity. Only without the bother of console players being @%$#ed off. They could have been open with console, but they were not. Communication with console players is STILL in the toilet. That's why we are still mad.

As a 2016 player and poster we use to have Clair who would understand the console version, she would reply back with console info and allow discussions. 2024 we now only have mods who play on PC who have no idea what this game is on consoles unless it's spec related.

I get that PC has more features even though it's been said it's the same game or going to be. A few mods or QA come in from time to time with useful info but for the most part console players have NO mod support repersention or understanding for this game on consoles. If you don't play on Xbox or PS why do you run a community dedicated to it? It's like a Ford salesperson who owns a Harley and has never driven a Ford.

Yes some posts are just rants some are just the same question repeated and mods are sick of them after 8 years, but how much of that is that you don't play what we are talking about so you don't understand us or the pain of broken parts of the game you don't see instead you see a snot nosed kid crying.

Even with my drone breaking and burying itself, lag like crazy, and getting studk on spawn screen needing to jump through hoops justto play its still a fun game

I would just like to say to mods please be polite and try to have a little understanding even if you think we play on junk consoles as we have twice supported this game with cash and have a inferior product.

No, ST didn't accidently admit that the previous console version had an update that was going through the process to be released, that information has been out there for years.  TFP was working with Iron Giants for a release to the console that would bring it closer to Alpha 16, though not fully like the PC version was at the time.

TFP were neither the publisher nor the software developers for the PS4 7D2D version, that was TellTale Games (publisher) and Iron Giants (developers).  They (TTG) did not release the update and after they went bankrupt, it couldn't get released (ST already listed the reasons).  Iron Giants could not release the update as that was handled by the publishers (TTG).  TFP had no business contracts with IG, they provided support in terms of sharing PC code with IG and discussions of what items to bring to the console version of the game.

I didn't know about IG not being paid by TTG there at the end, but that makes sense seeing how TTG was going bankrupt which meant they were in the mode to generate as much cash as possible which means trying to get more out their sales.

What communication do you want, exactly? Console is now equal to PC, so we are all getting the same info. What else do you want? Console users get a lot of flack for being a broken record, yapping about the same crap over and over while being ignorant to most of the facts. The old version of the game is dead, let it go. And it had nothing to do with TFP, so why bother coming here to cry about it? And you wonder why you get so much hate?

You might find this hard to believe but more than one thing can be true. Also, console players are aware of the timeline. They also know how many times they have been silenced. I don't care what you think about that. They bought back the rights to their game...and people continue to claim they didn't get all their rights back to old version. So what did they buy then? Did you read the conversation I was referencing to? kind of important to know the context.

How about any. If we try to talk on the discord server we get treated like filth. We were thrown off the dev streams pre launch for asking questions about console...on a re-launch to console. They just didn't seem to want to hear from us at all. Please don't assume we were being rude about it. We are not equal...apparently you are ignorant of what is lacking for console. WE tried to point out you complacent PC bros were accepting yet another batch of skins and progression reworks with out being even a little bit closer to a finished game. BUT...you guys don't seem to care...you wait for the modders to "fix it". WE needed a more complete version BEFORE launch...because we get the base game and that's it.

Last, but not least Sylen Thunder says the the old version was released as a finished product....well that would be news to a lot of people. The constant moving of the goal posts is nuts.

You still didn't answer the question. What info are you trying to get through the communication you want so badly? What is it you need to know?

And you are about as equal as console can get, other than I guess RWG being added. Which again is on the roadmap. Along with crossplay which will bring dedi servers for consoles. What else is missing?

And to be fair to the devs, outside of Rick I guess, the devs featured on all the streams I saw were the PC devs. So they aren't gonna be 100% clued in to the console stuff.

Thank you for change in tone. I mean that.

my answer might not be satisfying to you, but, what we wanted was completely ignored...no good communication...just moderators silencing us. we wanted to be able to ask questions ahead of the relaunch...to console.

But, me specifically? what did I want to know? nothing big, what I wanted to know is still in plain sight. I meant what I said in that post, I am waiting til xmas to see if they are keeping their word, I had no intention in getting in BS, but, got triggered and unloaded a little. I asked when we would see crossplay because TFP teased it would be "sooner than later" weeks ago. I have asked here and on the discord...everyone skips past the part where TFP teased it would be sooner than later and skipped straight to the part where the stupid console dink apparently can't read the roadmap.

Console is now equal to PC

So you can't fly in creative? Can you also not spawn zomibes use destruct gun?

Do your drones glitch under ground but can't be dug up?

When your drone gets shot do you die but never actually lose HP become incapable of interacting with world so you quit only to find out you died?

Do your loot bags despawn before morning if playing 2 hour days? Oh ya thats a Mod that keeps them for you. We wont get mods..

We still don't have random maps on console but will "sooner"

What communication I would like

A respectful reply on when we will get things fixed. Update per road map says we will get it Q4 and that was released in May, other being told "sooner" we have heard nothing since. Monday would be the last time it's sooner than Q4.....

They got their IP back and publisher rights for the old game. They didn't get anything else - so no code created by Iron Giants which is who created the patch.

At that point, TFP had to make a business decision.  First, they had to take into consideration the amount of money it cost to purchase those rights back.  After that, they had to figure out what they were going to do with the console version - were they going to spend a lot of money hiring talent to continue the work with the old version?  Would another publisher pick up the game where TTG stopped - if that was even possible legally - not sure if they got the rights to the old TTG code which if they did not, would mean they would need to start over with 7D2D console version.

Remember, when TTG was selling the game, they paid TFP licensing fees, but everything else after that went to TTG.  TFP made some additional money from console games, but I doubt it was enough to cover getting their property back after the TTG bankruptcy and continue to support the old version.

And yes, I did read the entire conversation so context was already taking into consideration...but my response was to your previous post where you made the comment:

You accidentally admitted they could have given console a little more

You don't know what their deal with TTG was and neither do I. TTG was well known at that time for overpaying for IP, we don't know if they got a flat amount or if they got a percentage of sales.

As new people play and come here looking for help, ideas, knowledge or just to talk strategy a lot have been driven off by lack of any official news, posts closed, moved or ignored. Most console posters have less than 50 posts

Jugginator already answered your issues with creative here. Not sure what else you want there. Again, ignoring info given to you and repeating the same stuff is exactly why console users get so much hate.

Drones have been a glitch fest since they were added. You guys are just now beginning to suffer from the same issues PC players have had for a few years now. Welcome to the club. ;)

Not sure about that drone/death issue. Have you reported it properly?

I couldn't ever play 2 hour days as that just feels like cheating to me, but I get your point. They used to despawn even quicker than they do now. I will admit it would be nice if their time alive would scale with day length or something but I don't expect that to happen. I don't mod that timer though as it's either risk it to go get them or lose them. You can also design your base in a way you can loot them without fully exposing yourself to danger.

Again...roadmap. Yes, it isn't in your game yet as it wasn't ready. But they had a deadline to hit so it was pushed till after release. If they delayed the game release for it you would be crying still that the game isn't out. Have some patience.
