We currently have the fireman axe, woodcutter, etc mods that increase damage to blocks at the cost of damage to enemies. What I’d like to suggest is a mod that reduces block damage and increases damage to enemies.
Especially for the case of axes and chainsaws, these are iconic weapons in the zombie genre, but have been forced into a tool only kind of capacity in this game.
FUNCTION of the attachment could be something like 50% of the block damage value is removed but added on to the entity damage.
(Cannot be used in conjunction with attachments that increase block damage).
This could keep items like axes and chainsaws relevant as weapons, without making the too strong as all purpose tools. (Min-Maxers may try to take advantage in some way, but ultimately it helps the game overall.)
Additionally, it could be applied to other weapons as well, helping to bolster melee damages across the board while removing block damage, which can be helpful if you find yourself fighting in a loot room.
Granted, Sledgehammers would see a considerable buff out of this, but honestly I don’t see that as much of an issue, as most of late game melee becomes far less effective.
