PC Saddened but Happy?

I've loved 7 Days to Die, since the first time I played it on Xbox One. The concept, gameplay and immersion was incredible.

Day after day I would come home from work, relax and play for hours on end with my friend.

We would build gigantic safe zones, whether on the wastelands or on the outskirts of the cities, and spend days powering through to get to the Blood Moons.

Fields of yucca and corn surrounded by walls of trees so dense it blocked all light emitted from within our safe zones.

One terrible day, after spending 19 hours on our world, we lost everything because of the well known glitch : The MD5. It destroyed 90%+ of our base. Immediately killing our continuation of playing on the world. We lost complete interest over the span of a few weeks. Why put in the effort if MD5 was gonna burn it all down?  The glitch became so common... so unfortunate.

Fast forward several years to this week.

My friends were playing 7 Days to Die on Console. They loved it despite the MD5 experience of the past, telling me that it's 100 steps up from the old release. The graphics, gore and detail were perfect for it, only thing being 'meh' was the ground looking the same.

I jump on Xbox App on my PC and search for it.

Cross Platform. Check.

That is all I needed to see.

I bought it.

While waiting for my friends to get off work, I gave it a test run. I loved it. It looked so much better. The zombies didn't look like they were spazzing out when walking. There is more blood, and vicious violence towards Z's. The blocks look much better. Leveling up is easy, but stronger level weapons need books to build... interesting but not off-putting. Towns don't look lazily put together like they were copy and pasted, which is very nice. The terrain is well improved, more realistic in its original built geometry.

Well Done FunPimps. You did an amazing job!

Well I'm saddened. I bought this game solely for the purpose of playing with my friends. The guys I have been playing online with for over a decade. We found out after 45 minutes of settings and options altering, restarting modems, consoles and my PC that it is indeed NOT cross platform. I feel this is poor advertising on Microsoft's part, but it needs to be changed.

Please, FunPimps, contact Microsoft and get them to fix this Cross Platform tag, and remove it, until the game is actually cross-platform.

I want to request a refund from Microsoft and buy another game. Until the game is cross platform, I want a game I can actually play either with my friends or enjoy playing alone. My biggest concern is the game will increase its price with the next update, as it did moving into Update 1.0.

I've no idea how to make this decision, the only information I need to make the long term decision is:

Will this game go up in price on its next update?

I don't like spoilers, so I don't go into forums and read about the games. Also, saying a car has rockets and selling it under the pretense that it has them is false advertising, and misleading. Saying one day the car will have rockets makes the misleading advertising comedically worse.

Of course, like I had stated, I believe Microsoft being at fault for that. However only FunPimps can request that change in the tags.

Its cool that cross platform is coming, but it will be months after I purchased on the pretense that it already has it based on its advertising. I don't feel like wasting $60 on a game I wont play for 3 months.

That was the point of my post.

However the question still remains, will the price go up upon the next update like it did when 1.0 was released?

What spoilers are there in 7 days to die lol.  It isn't anyone's fault you didn't come and read .

You certainly can advert that the game will have cross play and it not in there at time of purchase but is coming. What isn't acceptable is saying it has cross platform but then never does

Why not play and become good at the game so when cross platform comes in you are as good as your mates at playing the game..

No the price won't increase as far as I am aware.

When I purchase something I want to find out if the car I purchase has currently rockets installed or not.

I watch you tube for game play thrus of games I maybe interested in above reading what the game itself says.

up and coming additions, not knowing adds to my immersion and enjoyment.

If they won't put a disclaimer about Xbox series S only having 2 player coop not 4 like the features says I don't think they will remove cross play that will eventually come out.

I love the game but how they communicate is shady. I'm having fun with the game but I do feel like I purchased it from a used car sales person

The cross play should be added in quarter 4 2024 per road map, and when asked for release date they have said "sooner"

Not much time left for sooner than Q4...

To be clear on a few things here.

1. Microshaft will not allow game developers to differentiate between Series X and S in their listings. Either in capabilities, or in releasing different versions for them. Even though S might not support a game, if you release it on X it has to be listed on both. So the only reason there is not any disclaimer for it is because Microshaft will not allow them to put one there.

Probably because people wouldn't buy the trash with literally 1/3rd the processing power of a series X if they knew how bad it was. Especially considering how small the price gap is.

2. Cross-platform play is already done and ready to be pushed. Has been since before the console versions went live. Guess what the holdup is here?  Sony and Microshaft's stamp of approval.

3. If you have paid attention to any game development/releases, you know that them giving an estimated date half a year early is a recipe for having that date missed. TFP has learned this the hard way, and is doing a lot better about not giving you guys something to grasp on. Though obviously some of the team still need to learn to keep their mouths shut during video streams. The Q4 update hinges on not only game code and features still being actively developed and tested, but also on Sony and MS approving that client code for release. I can see it completely being possible that cross-platform play gets enabled before the big Fall 1.1 update gets released.

Unfortunately that's just how they word things. Their cross-platform means you can play that game on your PC xbox app or on the xbox. They also have cross-play (or cross-networking) which means Xbox -> PS5 or Xbox -> PC. It is a little confusing.

Can't even get it to work, not even with Steam (I'm on Xbox PC)

Hm it works on my end at least. If you mean XBOX PC (Microsoft Store) and Steam. It's easier to join via the friends list, you can link your steam account with xbox and that does make things way easier. But, if not, those games do show up in the P2P tab. Ensure the region is set correctly in the filter.
