Personally I think there's way too much especially from infestation containers I think they should just give you bullet casings and gunpowder so you still have to make the bullets and very rarely you'll get the real ammo I barely craft ammo that's how plentiful it is for me and I have basic settings on

It all depends on how you are playing. If you are a crafter, then it can become a lot.

If not crafting then it is enough. I use ammo nearly as soon as I get it. I sell brass, lead,

and phos, to traders. I dont buy ammo weapons and armor, well except preacher for

zombie damage. I don't craft until very late game, so I can explore and complete more of the map.

With higher game difficulty the zombies are much tougher/have more HP in 7DTD. This automatically translates into a higher demand for ammo. In most of the games I played, with higher difficulty level, enemies dealt more damage to a given player, or opponents used power attacks more often, even, more of them spawned. I imagine that most of the players keep on swimming with Scavenger and default Adventurer difficulty. I am not completely sure, if with higher difficulty more ammo spawns at the same time.

Once you go turrets, you will think the opposite.

Absolutely.

I have to compensate for some of my mates joining the lobby, so if there are 5 lads, the demand for ammo is never-ending on Warrior difficulty. Especially if most of us join for the wave mostly after 3 weeks of in-game gameplay. I would love to play on Survivalist but people would ragequit.

I do not think that there is too much ammo unless players go for Strength, Intelligence, and next Perception as the ultimate build. The amount of basic ammo instead of HP or AP in the late-game for me is a bit problematic as many players mentioned on the forum.

If I am wrong please correct me.

it is scarce in the beginning, so you do not get enough for your basic pistol. and it is abundant late game, for me even turrets cant compensate it. so I completely removed weapons and ammo from the loot. it should only be parts/resources, rarely some finished piece. I also removed all the tools from loot. so now there is not that much sense to loot)) so I basically spend most my time at base, diggin))) welcome back to Minecraft)))

And I have to make ammunition for the turrets, since there is not enough of them. On the other hand, I have a lot of machine gun ammunition.

It is dependant on play-style.  If you mainly use melee all the time, you will have all of the ammo you need.  If you are using guns more often then you will feel the pinch.

Difficulty can play a role here too, the harder the difficulty the more likely you'll be breaking out the guns.

It depends on where you are in the game. Early on I could largely rely on my bow and melee weapons, so I had a lot of ammo accumulating in my base. Now we're further on I need the firepower for each POI and the flow is going in the other direction. It's like water -- you'll have a surplus to begin with just from questing and think you don't need dew collectors; then you need to make massive quantities of glue and duct tape and you'll realise you're constantly running out of water. Personally, really happy for the book which lets you get brass from doors ... mind you, in larger POIs this can cause you to get lost because you're taking out doors which guide the path through the building.

I use mostly melee for clearing POIs, only automatic weapons as last resort option. Perhaps in the late-game players stay overloaded with one or two ammo types. Some relatively easy option to reporpuse/reproduct ammo is the way to go. Selling ammo in trader for a few bucks is a bad deal.

Yeah, if you go melee/explosives on blood moons you never need to craft a single bullet. And yes, I do use my guns the whole week, just not on blood moon.

It´s mainy infested caches. Those are way to generous on ammo. They should contain more mods than ammo imo. Mods are a pain to find, my first playtrough wich lasted 60 days  i never had a bandolier, that boot mod and helmet light came in week 3 also only saw a single vehicle mod during that time.

And yes, i know how to get books, recipes and magazines.

My default difficulty is warrior (or survivalist once in a while) and for me there is still too much standard ammo to be found.
I miss iron rounds they were worst for your gun and did less damage but were cheaper.  Wish they brought then back. Would truly make brass and lead the gold and silver of the game

I would also say so if your a sniper build. You deal so much damage the bullets you lose is less then the damage you deal.... if that makes sense.

At first, I had enough scrap and radiators. And starting from the middle of the game I just throw money into the stove.
what's your main weapon of choice?

The people that think there is too much loot, you do know there is a setting to get less loot right?

Personally I don't have a problem with ammo since I am more prone to melee.

I still never really lost the habit of stockpiling ammo from the days when ammo was scarce in this game so I tend to be overflowing on most of it.

Granted without a mod adding turret ammo to loot, I would be spending all my time mining lead and making ammo, since sooner or later I wind up with the pair of turrets.

I get so many weapon mods that it's insane.  I definitely don't need more.  I'd rather the ammo, even if I don't necessarily need it at times.  I suppose the biggest differences between people who think ammo is too much compared to those who don't are:  1) If you use mainly melee or never use turrets, you will have a lot more ammo sitting around, and 2) If you do a lot of infested quests, you will have a lot more ammo sitting around.

For me, I do use melee most of the time, but I also use turrets and so that keeps ammo down.  And although I do infested quests, I don't do only those.  I mix it up and do a variety of quests.

Yeah, I hate the junk turret ammo change to require lead.  I stopped using those when they made that change.  It isn't worth the cost and time to keep mining lead to make turret ammo, especially when it has much lower ammo capacity than regular turrets and you don't get any in loot and you have to be close enough to it for it to work.  I just dropped it and only use regular turrets anymore.  They really killed that for me (and I assume many others).  I think only intellect builds really use them too much anymore, though that's just a guess.

@BFT2020 Made a modlet to add the turret ammo to the proper loot groups just like other ammo. So it shows up in ammo piles, as quest rewards, etc.

It has saved me from the tedium of constantly mining lead, which especially with the 1.0 screamers would be an endless circle I imagine since the turrets would be burning ammo nonstop while mining now.

Yeah, but it isn't really worth it to me.  They were just niche use to begin with.  I didn't mind making the ammo with iron, but I don't normally mine lead, so it is extra work.  I don't need it taking up space in loot, preventing other loot from being there.  I could mod it to only use iron again, but it just isn't worth it.  I used it because I found it, not because it was really all that useful.
