Fast travel

There has not been any official announcement, but as of A21, there have been elements added to the game which suggest fast travel between traders is a possibility. Each trader compound has a helipad with a radio nearby. Again, nothing officially stated, but I could see that coming in an upcoming release.

They strongly hunted at it during A21 dev stream.  And the changes to trader compound suggests it, but nothing has been said since

I know Rick started to say something and Lathan shut him up. I remember seeing (in the last few months) one of the devs here saying it's going to be for something else, not fast travel.

Hmmm.  I didn't see anything saying it was something else and would be interested in seeing it.  There was a dev post here after that dev stream that suggested it really was going to be fast travel ... I think from faatal, though that was a year ago and I could be wrong.  But I haven't seen anything since, so they could certainly have changed their minds.  Which would be too bad since they apparently want players moving their bases over and over.

Imho fast travel would kill a bit of the the things we do while travel between traders, such as looting, also the survival element, going from point A to point B to get something important, or achieve something is cool.

If these radio stations are used to just connect with another trader and pop up some sort of menu that show/or add option to deliver what another trader have, would be better.

Maybe some items could be delivered, but the more valuable/rare would need the travel part as we do now.

I wouldn't say it impact survival at all because there's no risk traveling to begin with... even on foot unless you're not paying attention.  But yes, you'd not be able to loot stuff along the way.  But I don't see that as being a problem.  If you wanted to loot, you wouldn't use the fast travel.  And if fast travel costs money, you might not use it often (depends what the cost was).  I think it's a good QoL.  I like driving around for the most part and would continue to do so, but if I need to move a base, I don't want to take half a dozen 4km each way trips if I can avoid it.  And if I'm trying to find solar cells each restock, I'd rather fast travel than driving around the entire map every few days to check every trader.

What is the point of moving the base? I only move my base once and only to be closer to the dead bears that I have been feeding on since the middle of the game. Quite a lot of time is spent on level 5 tasks and the time of traveling on a motorcycle from the base to the merchant becomes not particularly critical.

I didn't say that is a good option, but it was mentioned that players would move to the different biomes as they progress.  Bad idea imo, but it seems like what they think players should do.

Why do you think players will do this? Now the quest progress is the same for all merchants. There is simply no point in moving to the next one. Yes, the merchants have a slightly different assortment, but once every 3 days you can visit them all.
