PC Zombies No Longer Dropping Loot?

I'm playing the console version on my Series S in "Adventurer" mode and have even set the "loot abundance" to 150%, but zombies still aren't dropping loot when they die. The only items I can retrieve from zombies are the arrows if I've shot them. I'm using the "Y" button on the controller as usual (like I did in the previous console version) to collect loot from the zombies. Any suggestions? I've just completed my 7th day... could this have something to do with it?
Thanks!

You can’t loot zombies but they rarely drop a loot bag when killed. Dire wolves and zombie bears are a guaranteed red bag loot drop, the best of them. The other colors are blue and yellow. Just gotta kill ‘em all and hope RNG smiles upon you.

Yea the games in a bad state right now it's become less looting & crafting more just run the infinite repeatable missions over because there's nothing to do except that.

I’ll go a days without even stopping by the trader. I’ll be out resource gathering and see an interesting POI that I will go through and loot. I’ll be out uncovering different areas of the map and try to pick up any garbage pile I see clean the place up a bit. Then when I feel the hankering to I stop by the trader and grab a mission as there are still plenty of places I haven’t been in yet and might as well make a little dukes. Then I go home. Where I’ll farm, cook, craft, and build. On the 7th day night I enter my horde pillbox and gun down some zombies. Thankfully seems like I found a lot of things to do that I enjoy but guess not for everyone.

As is! Agree. Things have changed, but that only means that the game strategy has to be changed... does not take away from the fact that the game, taken to the closest thing that could be survival in an apocalypse, is REALY FUNNY, and challenging.
It is clear that now getting purified water and antibiotics is difficult... but it is a matter of searching. Greetings! Thank you for the comments. I only played the 2016 version...and I'm adapting. But the game looks better!, in series S runs well. I didn't notice bugs yet.

Couldn't be further from the truth. Looting is highly important to be able to craft better equipment and gather resources. And i have found some excellent weapins. Traders right now now are just a little extra help and give you some nice extras and guide you along a loose progression but can be entirely ignored if the player chooses to besides the tutorial quest introducing you to rekt.

Zombies mostly had garbage loot and took up precious optimization because their corpses were searchable so now they still drop stuff but it's rarer and when they do its usually something nice and honestly I think it's fine that way.

That's your opinion & I disagree with you. This explains why!

I like to think I'm proving you wrong on that with my current series.  😛 What's stopping you from not doing the quests? Do a no quest challenge, problem solved!

The truth is that the game looks amazing... and I'm in an S series, without hdr. And the amount of things there are to do, improve, and modify... it's tremendous.... far superior to the old console version.
I was already able to get my first yellow bag thrown by a zombie!! ⭐.. and the storm that has just caught me running through a meadow... it looks and feels VERY real.
But in a way I also agree with what @Tzane says about the things that make the game feel "more real"... and that have changed...
Maybe it's because I'm just going on my 10th day. But I haven't found a single empty jar or can... not a single pot! And I reckon in a post-apocalyptic world, that would be an easy thing to find.... unless it is thought that everyone has collected the pots before, because they leave a lot of iron when they are disassembled (I estimate). I also think the character should be able to improve the level of things by repeatedly creating those objects... as in the case of the stone axe... not only reading magazines... In the real life, is that way. In these things, I agree with the comment of @Tzane.
But, We have a lot to do and hours to get fun! So, just, get fun, and hope this game could continue growing💖!

No empty jars or cans in this one you eat it, too bad it does not help with food. For pots check kitchens on top of fridge, and kitchen cabinets. You can also buy one for 600 from first trader or craft one in the forge.

Empty jars and cans were removed back in A21 so those of us on the PC already got use to that change  😉

Regarding pots, make sure you are looting residential POIs at the start.  Also look for the food trucks if you happen to be in a city.  Residential POIs are typically lower level and you are likely to find a cooking pot in them either via the cabinets or as one sitting on top of a table or cabinet - note avoid the cooking pots that have electronics on the top unless you want to start over  😉

When I play, I try to get the essentials established first so I concentrate on the residential POIs to get a grill and cooking pot.  I also loot garages I come across as their is chance to find a workbench in them that might have Forged Ahead books.  So my initial goal is to either find the pot itself or be able to craft a forge and then craft a cooking pot myself.

If you add points to lucky looter perk, it increases your loot quality. If you complete all books in the lucky looter series, your bonus reward is a higher loot bag rate from all zombies. I've completed the series and confirm the drop rate is definitely noticeable.

Hopefully the empty jars and cans will be back soon! they made it very real in that aspect...
So now the only way to find water is in those jars of "cloudy water"? I saw that there is a dew collector, and the steel bucket... but I still couldn't make them... could you take advantage of it to drink that water? Regarding the loot that the zombies drop, you can really notice the increase as you progress in the game😃💪

Surely 500 not haha!, but if you use the contents of a jar, it does not disappear😃.. The bottle still exists jeje... rather I have the opportunity to throw it away if I want to...as it was before... I remember I always had a couple of jars, and I used them to collect water... just like with the bucket.
Great!, I will use the dew collector this time, thanks so much folks

Unfortunately or is it? Idk but either way 100% not coming back. Yes it makes sense but with that said that about all it does. Several reasons to take them out vs having them. One big one is one less item to account for to help towards performance. Two it made having water way to OP on day 1. Even though I have my own personal opinion on that it is what it is but doesn't take away the fact that it is true. Not saying even now it can't be OP but it takes a little more effort then making as many jars you wanted in a few minutes basically. Yes I know it more then a few minutes but it was hardly any effort. Get glass jars find water and have unlimited water is the point... now it more challenging to a small degree and you don't have unlimited water at least right off. It takes some work to get the materials to make dew collector and you only get 3 to start and then more time to make another and so on. So with a small challenge to it and performance reasons you will not see jars or cans back unless on a modded game and at this time not possible on console.

I don’t really need the looting anymore. I used two land claims and built a floor covering the entire land claims one land claim for a tree farm and the other for multiple farms(81 slots each) dew collecters, workbenches storage course an such. Then I lowered the land around my base 3 blocks lower then my floor and 15 blocks out in every direction. Eventually it will be at the bedrock I also built by trader rekts with a bridge going from my base to his. But from the mining alone I’ve gotten enough materials to build anything I need. But I also have a super corn farm that I empty every three game days for dukes incase I need something from the trader. The looting isn’t my biggest item fetcher it’s the dukes farming and trader.

If you read the thread you would know quests is not the only issue. You can compare a no repetitive mission trader run to someone who only does the repetitive missions & they will level faster then you do.
