PC 1st Night 7 on V1.0: 1st impressions, small bugs, thoughts for the future

Firstly, I want to say that I have been loving all of the updates to this game over the years and was extremely excited to see the release of V1.0. I had one other player in game with me as we pushed through all 7 days on our Saturday, enjoying breaks for pizza and just basically reliving the young adult dream.

We definitely felt the pressure as the balance seems quite a bit better, although we felt that maybe the first hoard night was way more intense than it was supposed to be. At this point, we both only had a quality 1 pistol, and about 500 to 600 rounds each which we had been churning out frantically on our last day or 2 with what resources we had available. We thought we'd be good, as most 1st 7th nights prior had only lasted until about midnight. We were surprised to see endless waves flooding in for another 2 hours and ending at 2:00am, but that alone would have been fine if it weren't for the many cops and around 7 to 9 direwolves which were bashing us endlessly. Needless to say, we were out of ammo fairly quickly as we both emptied probably 30 to 50 shots into the direwolves alone to drop one.

Now, this was exciting for sure, but we definitely felt it was a bit too harsh for the first 7th night.  We had 5 solid rows of spikes (3 layers upgraded to iron) and 2 rows of barbed wire and it did nothing to prevent the direwolves from barreling to our door and chewing away. With such limited resources to fend them off, it just felt a bit unfair for the work we had put in, but certainly didn't take away the fun completely for us. It just felt a bit unbalanced compared to our progression.

We did notice a bug afterward when we went out to collect our loot where we had to destroy our spikes in order to collect loot bags. I'm sure this isn't intended, but I did want to bring it up so it could be looked into as we never had this issue in Alphas past.

Aside from that, we've been having a blast!

At some point we'd still like to more easily be able to have a "wood to time" fuel placement on the campfires/forges so you can easily place the right amount of wood needed to fill the required fuel time without having to right click to drop single pieces at a time or trying to split wood stacks and still having the timer burning for far longer than needed.

Also keeping my fingers crossed for some raiders and NPCs to do some extraction/stealth exfiltration quests and other side quests and skills (fishing please, I'm simple.) to keep things fresh as we play longer and longer, but even at it is, totally worth the amount I've spent for all of the entertainment over the years!

All I ask now though is to please look into the loot bag issue as that's the only major issue we've found thus far. And disappearing zombies. I think we had 2 or 3 which were certainly still alive as we turned away from them only to turn back around and they were nowhere to be found.

Keep doing as you do, Pimps. I've put more hours into this game than any other in my 37 years on this weird planet and I plan on putting in many more! Great Job.

Glad you're having fun. About it being too harsh for the 7th day, I have to say beyond being subjective, it's also largely depdendent on your settings and progress.

I just finished a day 7 with the wife. Went to 4 am, no cops, 3 dire wolves, handled it between the two of us without spikes, sledging for knockdown helping relieve their relentless tankiness.

That said, we play one difficulty up from default.. warrior I believe, 60 minute days, all else standard zombie behavior, no increased xp, but shared xp range extended.

We trader quested a fair bit, but rewards toned down, that was mostly xp and dukes.

I think we were rolling in level 5 primitive armor sets, both around level 20ish, and I had a level 5 stone sledge, she had a level 5 club.

It was relentless, but not a problem.

How were your settings different, or you're gear?

Just something for you to compare against.

Horde nights vary by biome. I think the devs assume you'll be in Forest -- Wasteland is hard. I have not done a horde night in Wasteland, but I've done some Wasteland POIs. I'm just glad a saw a streamer do it first -- I brought a lot more ammo than I expected to need.

Yeah, this is a confirmed bug.  It isn't likely to be a difficult one to fix, so probably fixed in the next update.

Yea  I to am enjoying 1.0   did run into the spike bug but no  biggy      Zombies  glitching through the draw bridge  is no another one      I put a rollup behind it to stop it

funnies one is if you get out of vehicle on the bridge   it falls through it    I am sure they will get it squared away  other then that   pretty good so far  we are on day 100
