Problems after V1.0 b312 EXP (b313 Hotfix)

Hi all,

I`ve been playing V1.0 with a friend for a while now, where he is hosting the game from his pc without any problems.

After the above mentioned update/hotfix, i constsantly get kicked out of the game.

Generally i can play about 15 to 30 mins.  before getting kicked out of the game, then load back in just to get kicked again after a while.

First i tried validating gamefiles , didn`t change a thing, then removed the game from steam and my pc, reinstalled the the game , but the problem still persists.

Anyone else have this problem, or maybe a solution?

Do you or the host have the game installed on HDD instead of SSD?  That isn't related to the update really, though the update could have made it affect you more.  Otherwise, try posting your log and the host's log, showing you being connected and getting disconnected.

The host has the game istalled on SDD , mine is installed on HDD, but we`ve been playing like this for years and never had any problems, up to when  the update/hotfix dropped.

the first game i played after the update i got imediatlly kicked from the game after about 15/20 mins.

Can you tell me where to find the logs that show me my connection/ disconnection?

thnx

The logs will be good and the info on where to get them was already posted, but here's the info regarding HDD...

This game performs horribly on HDD compared to SSD.  But the main issue is that every 20 minutes, the game does a cleanup process.  On HDD, this process can freeze the game for a time - anywhere from seconds to minutes.  When I had it on HDD, it was sometimes only 10 seconds or so and sometimes a few minutes.  Probably related to how much cleanup was needed.  In any case, if the time is greater than the timeout period for the host/server, you'll be disconnected.  With it installed on SSD, this cleanup isn't even noticeable, so there's no issue with disconnect due to the game freezing, even for just a couple of seconds.

Now, as far as why this is affecting you now, it could be that some change is causing additional cleanup to be needed and that is pushing your freeze long enough to cause problems now when it didn't before.  I don't know if there is a way to change the timeout value for P2P (hosted by another player).

In any case, you can tell if this is the problem by opening the console (F1) right after getting disconnected and scroll up to just above where the disconnect is and see if it says something about UnloadUnusedAssets or something like that (I forget the name, but is should be something like that).  This process happens every 20 minutes and was always an issue when I had the game on HDD.  You can also look in your log for that above wherever you were disconnected.

If you can install the game on SSD, it is highly recommended.  Not only will that fix this problem if it is related to that command, but the game will load much faster and you'll have far fewer issues with lag.

Thnx for all the info, will install an SSD asap, and i think this will solve the problem, as what your saying is exactly what`s happening to me, first my game freezes up for quite a while and then dissconnects.
