I just did the first dig quest and the loot box was empty? Is that a bug?

Edit: Started a new game and this time there was stuff in  the chest but nothing  I could eat and stacked with what I already had, like corrupted flesh.  That's what fooled me

It has to be a bug. I cannot fathom any reason why any loot chest tied to a quest would be empty. Report it.

When you open a loot chest it measures the value of your soul and gives to you accordingly.

The introduction buried supplies chest does not have any food any it, at least none that you can eat without vitamins.  You get murky water, rotten flesh, and a sham sandwich.   Normal buried supplies quests still have food items in them
