Position of Air Drops in Multiplayer

I play in a game where I am the host and I have two others play with me.  Our question is who/where does the air drop spawn off of?  One of us believes it spawns off of my, the host, location.  However I thought it was random as I've seen it spawn closer to others and not me.

Does the air drop spawn off of the host?

or

Does the air drop spawn off a randomized player/location?

This is correct. It spawns to drop within X distance of a random player that is online. Off the top of my head the distance is random as well, but there are minimum and maximum clamps on it.

Yeah, distance seems to be around 400-600m.  It does seem to drop more often near me as host, but that might just be how it seems and not actually what happens.
