This popped into my head while I was playing just now, during a silent period of the game where it dawned on me... This game could use a Walkman + headphones item, maybe styled based on the 90s? You would have a number of radio stations to pick from, or maybe random mix-tapes scattered around as loot. Underground talk radio? Apocalypse Now? Perhaps different Walkman and headphone models as well. Maybe the sound gets sketchier as the battery dies? Oh yeah, batteries... You'd need to use a generator to charge it (rechargable batteries) or maybe you find AAs in the wild? Maybe both. Pimp this thing out! Then, you wear the headphones and activate the Walkman. Whala, now you have a soundtrack to your zombie-killing movie! It would, of course, disable the in-game music while it's on but the headphones would have some muffled transparency to the outside world still so you could hear the louder cues. I'm totally tuning into the 80s movie soundtrack station once this goes live.
