The most frustrating error ever. I create a game, a week later I rehost it and get this error and the map is completely unplayable. There's no resuscitating it.

I even uninstall and reinstall the game, so there's a fresh installation. It happens again. If I'm lucky to play a map one day, it's a coin toss whether I'll be able to rejoin my own game a week later.

Today a friend hosted a game, generates a new map, and this error prevents us from playing together.

How has this problem not been fixed at this stage of development? I'm not optimistic about A21 at all.

Your output log file will show what is causing the error. You can copy/paste it to pastebin.com and link here and someone will have a look.

As mentioned, the log will help determine the cause.  That said, this error is often caused by some kind of missing object.  That can happen due to a mod that isn't working properly or a mod that was removed after adding something to the game that isn't vanilla.

The log is 3.4MB in size, so pastebin wouldn't accept it. I had to trim out large repetitive sections in the middle of the log. I'm also not using mods and have never used mods, so it's strictly vanilla.

I never had this problem with A19. I quit for months and decided to try again in A20. Needless to say, my playtime in A20 was very short lived.

I'm not great at examining the logs and hopefully someone else can give you some advice, but I believe it looks like your profile is corrupted.  This can happen if disconnected incorrectly from a server, among other reasons.  Unfortunately, fixing the issue on an existing map will leave you at level 1 without your gear and you'd need to either start over or else use console commands to level yourself back up and creative menu to give yourself the gear back.  If this happens on different saves on a regular basis, it could be that you or the server has network problems that are causing the corruption.

You should clean your install to get rid of any lingering A19 data. Use the Launcher/Tools/Clean game data... menu to do so.

After you clean the data, don't start the game. Verify your files through Steam twice. Then try to start a local game of Navezgane

to see if it's all working.

The server/game you tried to connect to has a LiteNetLib failure, which shows the server's ports are not opened properly. Also, your

player profile is corrupted on that server, so the server owner will have to delete your profile before you can play on there. You could

try connecting to a public server also to test that everything on your end is working as it should.

This is the way, @Beelzybub has hit the nail head with the proverbial hammer. If you do as he recommends and start a new seed you should be fine as long as you make sure the correct ports are forwarded on your servers router.

How exactly do I ensure the correct ports are forwarded?

Now that A21 is out, I decided to give this a try.

I cleared game data, and will soon uninstall. The port forwarding link doesn't work, and instructions on the internet assume you're an IT wizard, and not a casual layperson.

I tried to search firewall settings from the control panel instead. Would clicking all the boxes for 7DTD do the trick?

Also, I don't ever remember installing Bubble Saga or Candy Crush. Do these games typically come with the computer, or is there a virus/PUP hiding as a kid's game? I run SuperAntispyware and Malwarebytes once a month.

Partially yes at least on your end unless you are going to host a server. If you want to host a server, you will need to forward ports on your router.
