PC What will happend after gold?

Well i don't to start any controversial topics today but i want to keep my mind busy. So my question is...

What do you think guys TFP will do after release gold version of 7dtd?

I think they will trying to somehow fix console version. Then annouce new game. But they will not give up with 7dtd - vr will be probably added. i'm not sure if we will get new content. I hope for few dlc but i think it is unlikly to happend

After release there will be some more bugs to fix, while the mod community will get even more active. Maybe there will be some DLCs. And some day TFP will announce 7 Days To Die 2 ... or a completely different game they always wanted to make. 😉

Whenever 7Dtd will get gold ('when it's done'): I think the more interesting part in this community is now - while waiting for the final release like a child waiting for Xmas morning. Enjoy this time. After the game has finished it will be awesome for sure. But it will be just another finished awesome game.

Well 7dtd2 will not happens but they are working on new game for sure

Although I often love DLC, I think adding DLC to this could get messy.

First, there is the MP issue. For peer-hosted server, they could simply make it so that if the host owns DLC, then it activates for clients. This means that DLC will actually have to be a part of the game and purchasing it simply activates it. It's fine when there isn't much DLC, but if it grows, then everybody's game installs become bloated whether you own DLC or not. I'm not sure what, but something would have to be implemented to verify DLC for dedicated servers. Otherwise if DLC content wasn't included with base game, it would just have to be where the host selects which DLC is active for the server and only people with matching DLC for themselves can join.

Then there are the modding issues. They could put something in place so that parts of a mod coded with references to things in DLC are simply ignored, but then modders still have to consider that their mod might play differently depending on whether the players have DLC or not. If the DLC actually changes some properties of the base game, the results would likely be undesirable. Otherwise if they did not implement this ignoring feature, modders would have to make a different version of every mod for each and every possible combination of DLC and that would be a nightmare.

I think one of the only ways DLC could work in a game like this would be with creative content, such as TFP releasing a pay-for mod to 7DTD that includes an all new hand crafted map(s), story line, POIs, zombies, and/or updated graphics.

Well conan exile and ark have a lot dlc there. Idk how it's works then but it can be done.

Oblivion have 2 big dlc and few small so this can be done. Honestly - modders can't do such good for example zombie models like Devs so it would be better to create let say - 2 big dlc and 3 smalls and make a "full dlc pack" standard for mods

This could work, New map with lore sound logical. Btw do you know total war? There is blood dlc ( diffrent names in diffrent total war but add this same thing - gore, burned corpses etc) - So i think more brutal gore or zombie children or another controversial stuff could be added this way too

Sure, it can... but notice 7 is less than 14GB, while Conan is over 100GB and Ark will be pushing 200GB soon. It drives me crazy because I don't have the DLC but I have to put up with the constant updates and storage bloat regardless.

A gore DLC would be great and wouldn't affect mods nor would it require anything special from servers because it's something personal for clients.
I would pre-order right now if I could.

1. Well... they probably do this same thing as Valve - Valve don't clean older files. Btw well this a way to "force" people to buy dlc = why? because you have to download dlc you will have "remider" about new dlc

2. Yep this would do a lot - i think make similiar gore system to l4d2 or cod WaW would be perfect "2$" dlc

Everybody gets the DLC whether you buy it or not. Buying just unlocks it (or connecting to someone with unlocked DLC with temporarily unlock it for you).

I'm also reading that the DLC for games that do this is often encrypted and modding of DLC is not allowed (at least not until the company feels satisfied with earnings) because people could just grab the assets and recreate the DLC as a free mod.

In my opinion, once 7d2d goes "gold", they'll essentially stop working on this game except maybe for holiday events or something, giving us some new copy paste content like another gun or zombie, etc. Without a doubt, once it goes "gold", their focus will be entirely on their new game, which I think is fine because the modders can finally release final polished versions of mods and more of them.

Yeah, MK have this sam problem. Well it;s not allowed but...  happens - evenk mk had free dlc unlocker mod XD

So this DLC are possible

As far as I know, TFP couldn't get back the rights to the console version, so that's dead.

I hope not. At least new game must be somehow be connected with  7dtd universe or 7dtd gameplay. Why? 7dtd community is so big so create let say space ship similuator would be kinda "low community" decision. So i think it will be like "medival" 7dtd game or 7dtd prequel. Btw if they want to keep this universe alive few story dlc will be possible. Abouts mods - I think it would even decrease number of mods so... this will be good

TFP have already mentioned some possibilities.

1) PVP gameplay improvements

2) Official modding support with full Steam Workshop compatibility

3) Any unfinished stretch goals not implemented for gold would be completed post gold.

4) Story elements will probably be post gold.

5) Release of the new console edition.

1. god nooooooooooooooooooooooo

2. cool ^^

3. ??? honestly what more left?  only story / bandits  well in kickstarter is a point about safe houses but trader bases are safe houses

4. What the hell? so.... honestly only left adding bandits and... it will be all. So.... even it is possible that 7DTD get gold in this year O.O

5 this is logical
