This 10k map is using 7.6G of memory

Is that right after forming the world and going into the game? if so then  you need to generate the world, exit the game and then and only then actually enter the world and play in it. That's nothing new if that is your cause.

I'll check it out next time I get back in.

That sounds about right. Dedicated server, 10k map uses 5.5Gb. Chuck in 2Gb for the actual game client itself, that's not unrealistic?

Edit: Ooops, I meant 4.5Gb. For being a computing scientist, Maths appears to be not my strong point.

I have found that 7d2d now keeps about 5-7 Gb of memory in standby and will not free it up at all even after closing the game. Makes it easier and quicker to load into the world next time as long as you haven't restarted your computer.

I was wondering why I always end up loading in the 2nd time so fast! makes so much sense.
