1. Mushrooms

we can walk through all crops except mushrooms where we "bobble" up down

2. animals,

when chasing an animal, they sometimes head for lake/river water, and...keep going on the bottom without dieing

2 not ground breaking issues, but strange

I must say we can do same on s vehicle! We just go down the water as there isn't any))
Some alphas before we had the exact opposite. If you even touched the water with your wheels the vehicle suddenly stopped working. You had to empty the storage space, take it apart and then reassemble it on the dry land. That was when vehicles still consisted of parts that could be replaced.

Well, not you can drive thought water as there is none.... except you get wet if it is deeper than your shoulders line. Just "hit the pedal to the medal" and you re fine. Was surprised by myself when I was riding my bicycle turned my head away from monitor for a few and when turned back found myself streaming through the river)))

I guess it came down to, "what's worse?"   Being able to drive on the bottom of a lake or having your 4x4 stop dead in its tracks when trying to drive through a puddle.

I don't like either situation, but I think the former (what we have now) is better than the latter (what we had before).

water and its properties are pretty....fluid....right now. Once faatal finishes and they can make design decisions based on the new tech, we will see how things turn out...

I'm guessing we're going back to some sort of "vehicles dont work on water" kinda thing? Since TFP have been very openly talking about how they DO NOT want people using vehicles off roads... ?

Huh....that’s news to me. Interesting how if that were true why have they never implemented any sort of penalty for driving off the road but have in point of fact removed collision from all sorts of off road decorations that hampered off road travel and also removed the water penalty we used to have?

I've hearing about this for a few years now (since A18).. I believe madmole even mentioned those plans prior to A19 release, on those preview streams/videos.

As long as the roads have a good rgw placement I'm fine with that^^ But a special offroad car or bike would be nice. the recipe is only at one specific POI

I think it would be more realistic to have vehicles perform better on roads and gravel than off-road (run a little faster, use less gas, take less wear-and-tear).  The bicycle (since it's clearly not a mountain bike) should certainly go faster and use less stamina if you're on a road.  It would introduce some interesting choices between cutting across the landscape and taking more damage, or sticking to the roads and taking less.

Maybe the reward for getting the 4x4 would be that it suffers no penalty for going off-road?

I do remember him talking about off-roading possibly contributing to the critical breakdowns they will eventually add to vehicles. That could be where the idea that "they don't want us going off the roads" might have come from. But even that feature doesn't mean they don't want us going off the roads, it means that they are wanting there to be rewards and risks associated with driving safe on the roads or cutting across the terrain. It's your premise that the devs are trying to stop people from leaving  the roads I object to and not the idea that they might add penalties and benefits to different types of ground that the game detects your vehicle driving on.

This exactly. The devs want to add meaningful choices-- not stop us from driving outside the lines....

That's just a bunch of selective reading and rabble-rousing on your part. TFP has never said they "do not want people using vehicles off roads".  MM has responded to people complaining about Mountains and craggy areas by saying in essence he doesn't see a problem with there being trade-offs to using roads vs driving off-road. He's never said the goal is for people to be unable to drive off-road. Instead he's consistently said "he" thinks their should be a potential cost for driving off-road. MM is not, however, the end all be all of development here. It's a team effort and MM's desires are not always implemented and are sometimes changed due to team or community input.

I've said this before, but what I'd really like to see are block-based speed modifiers.  Then we can drive full speed on asphalt, and somewhat slower on gravel or sand.  Land with more blocks of tall grass could slow us down more than land with the grass cleared.  And where it comes to debris, we would have an in between state between 'slam to a stop' and 'destroy the block instantly.'

Because of how voxels work, there will be no pushing a pile of trash out of the way with your car.  So allowing travel through 'soft' blocks with a reduction in speed, instead of going over them like a speed bump or destroying them like they're nothing, is the next best thing.

2 makes me wonder if the animals have a certain limit that they can hold their breath for.  With max cardio we can hold our breaths for 3 minutes I believe.  I'll have to do some testing to see if they eventually suffocate.

When I played on ps4, like in my first or second game, I didn’t know you could pick up a mini bike.  I got it into the water in the desert in navezgane (I think) and it was like a river and the bike died. Couldn’t drive it out or move it.   I spent a LOT of time trying to go underwater, dig, place a block or two, go chop down a tree, come back, etc , but the mini bike kept sinking or would slip weirdly and go deeper.  Eventually I ended up damming the entire river and building a bridge under the bike to get it stable and drive it out. Took many in game days, while also fighting Zs.

I mentioned this to a friend, who said “you do know you can pick that up” ;(

anyway: one of my more memorable games.  I kinda miss the “waterlogged vehicle” mechanic now... but anyways... who doesn’t want to chase a mermaid stag through a lake?  It’s fun! ;)
