or, just possibly, it could be what we _are_ told?  :classic_biggrin:

"You can pet bears now" "To pick up landmines, use a wrench. Trust me."

---

& not for nothing Gazz, but while Groundhog Day was/is a most excellent movie, 'membering that to some of these forum comedians could get nuts! :spit:

(which I'm looking forward to! It's too quiet around here... :suspicious: ) <all in good fun of course :biggrin1: > <n, sry, gettin my emogie on...ha! :hippie: >
all those emojis hurt my head

It makes perfect sense to me, but if you want to remove it, it is defined in vehicles.xml for each vehicle.
I did what i laugh about when others do it: overreact.

Sure mate, i will wait for A19 and see how it feels and maybe adjust it then.

Im sure you guys had your thoughts behind the change.

On a Sidenote:
Clay-Molds to craft weapon parts does make sense too, but got rid out of the game because it was overly complex 😛

As so often people are freaking out over their own imagination.

And then they wonder why "the Fun Pimps never tell us anything!"

Dear Gazz,

Getting told "touch the Gas Pedal with your foot and use 60% more food" is not really imigination.

But i agree, i was freaking out. sorry for that.

I appriciate Updates about Development, i just dont always appriciate the content of said updates^^

60% sounds like alot but imagine if the stam drain is 1 point per 10 secs (example only).  60% of that is not that much.  Were better off waiting to see how it feels instead of theory crafting the worse case scenario.

totally agree. there seems to be a lot of demonising of the changes before anyone has seen how ANY of these changes affect gameplay. best to just be patient and then give it a chance ;)

Neither jumping to TFP defense or bashing it.

The 60% value is ambiguous at best. A 60% increase based on what though?

Normal just standing food uptake?

walking?

running?

Is the food drain even still the same as in A18?

I still think its a little weird to add a food sink, based on driving a vehicle, but again, won't know till we know. Could be good, or a pita.

The food system in the game is off, anyways. Like in a18 the perk to reduce your metabolism? Alright, I guess?

Never mind that the better shape you are in, the higher your metabolism is. logically, reducing your metabolism means you are getting out of shape.

Heh, you want a new food sink? then make every time you increase your strength, and cardio type perks, it increases your food up take, a little bit more. That way food becomes more of a thing, the more you level, and spend your perk points (getting in better shape). Just a thought is all.

And none of it really matters anyway, because by the time you are driving around in vehicles, you have food stashes up the yin yang and you probably have the perks that prevent you from feeling hunger at all. The game still does not have a food challenge.

Example of a car that actually requires burning more calories when driving it:

Aboot the whole vehicle/food thing... What I am scratching my head about is vehicles have their own consumption mechanic which is damage/repair and it's way under utilized. Vehicles take practically no damage no matter how hard you drive it. Whouldnt it make more sense to tweak that mechanic instead of plugging it into the food system?

Perfectly willing to try this change, but just sayin..
Vehicle damage, player in vehicle damage and zombie damage from vehicles is different in A19. There are many changes we make in every alpha that don't get announced until the release notes come out.

I don´t know more hunger when driving? I don´t care, when I have a vehicle to drive around food should not be a problem anymore.

btw when my family drive a longer tour we allways have a big bag of food with us ... hmm can the yunk drone deliver Pizza?

Serious question: Why not just drastically decrease the amount of foodstuff that can be found in loot containers? 🙈

This together with some simple changes to the hunting system sound promising to me. Make deer only huntable with bow & arrows for example. If you kill it with the "wrong" weapon it does not give you meat (or just a very small amount). Small animals like rabbits and chicken can only be catched with bare hands. Predators like wolves and bears should be much much much stronger and harder to take out. A few hits of a bear should kill you and even in late game it should be a risk attacking predators. Risk of an infection when hit (bitten) by an animal should be increased a lot.

The feeling when you eventually succeed in getting raw meat from an animal together with some eggs from a bird's nest is awesome when you start a new game. Those things are really valuable and save your life. I think this feeling should be conserved throughout the game.

We have actual percentages. We can make models with these figures. We will have to bring 2 stacks of stew before we even think of looking at a Minibike. It's a pointless penalty for having a vehicle and excess food.
The numbers are much smaller than you imagine.

In testing, sprinting on the minibike used 1 food for 54 seconds.

Meat stew is 50 food, so 45 minutes of sprinting.

A stack of 10 would be 7.5 hours of sprinting.

2 stacks would give you 15 hours of sprinting.

We could double or triple the numbers and I think it would be fine.

Dude, before throwing around stupid this and stupid that you could still give your feedback when A19 comes out and you actually get to play with it.

You know... like REAL feedback, not biased banter on something you can only make a wild guess on. 🙄
If the concept is stupid, what do you want to test about it? If somebody tells me that they want to make car that runs on farts should I wait for how it pans out? Yeah he might make it and it might achieve some goal, but its widly inpractical and majority of people will see him as a fool.

Food as Madmole stated is early game problem, that does not translate much into late game. Later on role of the food is it gives you buffs. The only reason I can think of why they want to implement this solution is because avarage player in later stages have endless food and little to no drains, because they drive everywhere and shoot guns instead of melee. So as I see it they want to implement vehicle food drain, so they can make food relevant to late game now. That is something I can stand behind, but this is not the way to do it. I would much rather see food as a good trader item or quest objective rather than arbitrary punishment.  Right now it feels like hacked solution added at the very last second.

... Kind of want to make one of those now...
MOTHER OF GOD.  We need Zombie Rickshaws STAT.

Nononono Hear me out.  It would be the perfect step up from bicycle to motorized vehicles in the game.  You could build it with much the same parts, maybe some sort of human part or live animal on a stick to get it moving.  If you don't put the brake on then it kinda wanders around a bit when your not in it.

Come on FunPimps, you can do this.  Knock out a working version with a laptop while your on the toilet next time.

Zombie Rickshaws.
