I semi-planned, semi-lucked into a successful horde night strategy. Knowing that the new zombie AI prefers pathing to me over destroying my base, i built a very long, but clear winding path to me, with a few replaceable wood frames in the last few steps.
Whenever the horde began tearing apart my foundation i would insert the two wood frames to change their strategy, then pull them shortly before they breached my base. Tada! Instant zombie conveyor belt.
Now what i didn't expect was that they broke through some parts of my maze to make a shorter run, but it essentially worked as planned.
The key was being ready to shift strategy whenever the zombies did. I don't know if it will work on higher levels because there were no cops, but thought I'd share my success story.
Oh yeah, slow is the new power-leveling. I'm playing a SP game, kept defaults except made clock run on 120 mins per day and turned on mark air drops (3 days).
Made through day 7 on a single life, and i think my manageable horde was due to my slow leveling. I hit level 20 while fighting them that night. Used every single arrow and bullet i owned and had to smack down the last two breachers with a club!
Had so much fun! See ya on day 14!
