PC Your low tier v1.0 poi horror stories. Screamers need to be toned down.

So its day 6, I have a tier 1 pistol as my best gun, nothing in the pistols perk but I do have 5 agi. So I take a tier 2 infested quest in the burnt biome, first room had a feral business man and feral spider zombie, meleed those down easly enough, so I continue thru the poi, nothing much of note, until I hit the loot room, Second I walk in there 2 feral zombies and a RADIATED biker with 1800 health charges at me. Note this is on day 6 in a tier 2 infested quest. I manage to kill them with kiting and some wood spikes to slow the biker down, right after he dies I then get jumped by 2 feral screamers at once, yes both came at the same time, not 1 after the other, both at once, because I fired maybe 25-30 shots with the pistol to kill the biker, as I can't melee a dude basically immune to knockdown with a t3 baseball bat with it having 1800 health.

It was exciting as hell, but man that was one hell of a hard low tier poi/quest. Mostly cuz of the radiated biker at the end.

On another note I really feel screamers chance to spawn has to be raised back to when heat goes over 100% like it used to be in a21.2, It is far to easy to cause a pair of screamers to come after you after a few shots with a gun. My base has 1 forge and a campfire, going and its basically constant screamers. They aren't difficult mind you its just annoying as hell with how often they come around now. I've basically never had a single screamer come when they spawn, its always been 2 of them. I also learned they can scream and call a horde even if they do see you if they take damage from anything, like spikes.

Agree about the screamers.  In my current playthrough, in the first week I think, I had THREE screamers appear at the same time and the only thing going on in my base was TWO DEW COLLECTORS!

I liken this change to screamer spawns to the vehicle damage change they made from A20 to A21.  I feel like they went way overboard on that, and definitely way overboard on the screamer spawns.

Hopefully they adjust that down somewhat in a future patch.

Was watching a streamer on day 5 a dire wolf spawned in a tier 1 or tier 2 POI. Pipe weapons insufficient to deal with that ...

If it spawned in a POI, then the POI designed set it up to spawn there.  I'd be interested in seeing which one because I've never seen a dire wolf spawn in a low tier POI.  They can go into one just like any other zombie from outside the POI, but spawning in one would require being set up to spawn there.

I was almost finished with a tier 5 mission when a screamer showed up. Problem was, I couldn't tell where she was at. She would scream and I'd have more zombies to kill and then she's scream again and get some more zombies. I looted the treasure room and abandoned the mission because I just couldn't find her.

Yeah the screamers spawn way to early and way to fast, also I notice they can call a horde even if they do not see you if they take any damage. Had one when I was mining I had a 3x3 structure above the mine entrance surrounded by wood spikes, I heard her out there and was like "The spikes will take care of it" and it did, but, it still somehow called a horde on me even though I was deep in the mine with no way for anything to get line of sight on me.

I have not had a screamer yet in my 14 days...   I had 2 campfires a forge and a dew collector.    My horde base failed though so I am started a new game.

So playing with the debug on, I have noticed that salvaging generates a tremendous amount of heat while breaking stuff generally does not. Especially if you forget to crouch while you salvage. That has been the cause of screamers when I am at POIs, but I am not using guns yet either.

Double-dipping (salvaging POI then starting quest and doing it again) is like a guaranteed screamer. On a side note, did they add some code to make it less rewarding? I feel like the loot is not as good 2nd time around, less magazines and book/schematic will be duplicate; and face it, reading material is the main reason to double-dip.

I haven't done enough mining to see how much of an issue it is by itself (even in A21 mining with an auger was non-stop screamers), I went with a bunker base this time, so I have really only been mining in my base, but then I'm also running a forge, campfire, cement mixer & dew collector pretty non-stop.

Although now that I think about it, the heat generation from the workstations doesn't seem like enough by itself, especially since I got rid of the torches.
