Hello, this is my first time on the forum.
I have been playing 7dtd with mods, and for A21, there was this animals as pets mod. They usually didn't do anything other than walk around, but that was fine by me. I simply liked the company, and would build hutches for my rabbits, a chicken coop for my chickens, and have a coyote wandering around my walled-off base. The mod in particular was called Oak's pet animals and guards, something along that line.
I would love something similar for v1, but the mod has still not been updated, so after waiting a few months I'd like to try to take things into my own hands. I was wondering if this is doable for a total modding noob like me.
What I'm looking to do is following:
As I've mentioned already, I'm completely unfamiliar with the modding scene. At most, I've changed other mods' config files to tweak them to my own liking, but I'm fairly confident that most of these features are possible to replicate in 7 days.
Cheers and merry christmas!

What I'm looking to do is following:
- Make it possible to spawn any existing animal currently in the vanilla game, ideally by trading or crafting an item that contains a specific animal which you can place to then spawn the animal into the game
- The animal must be completely friendly to all players (wolf, coyote, bear, etc), and not be scared of them (rabbits, chickens, deer)
- The animal should never be allowed to despawn
- The animal should be immune to all damage sources, with the sole exception being one specially-made item, such as a butchering knife
As a bonus feature, but not necessary: have the animal be able to follow you. This is completely optional and not a high priority to me.
