What’s Wrong With 7 Days to Die? – And How to Fix It

I'm writing this as I watch.

Agree emerging features for the story can be overshadowing the sandbox, such as biome progression.

Agree survival has gotten easier, though having just played A16 I think he misremembers it. For instance water. An A16 character starts with 1 canned food, which is all is needed to purify water. Once you find water in A16, it's easier than 2.0. I assert the real issue is map composition, which he touches on, and temperature. In A16 you could start in the desert a long way from water.

He's suggesting QUESTS to get the gear for biome progression, like a gas mask, to be able to get to the burnt biome. I'm not a fan only because I'd like biome survival not to be locked behind a trader.

While I do agree armor mods and coats make more sense, I don't want to have to carry around a bunch of armor mods to switch around when I change biomes. If you want to have some specialized inventory slots for biome gear, then maybe... but that's kind of like a badge, but with better visuals.

Agree on biome loot caps. I'm not sure what that accomplishes. Level-based loot seemed fine to me. Higher loot in tougher biomes was okay too.

I like exploration too, but disagree that loot caps and biome progression prevent that. Biome progression only limits early exploration.

I am intrigued by the notion that biome smoothies let you resist storm effects and/or temperature effects. I do like storms, though I think they should be hand and glove with temperature, wetness, vision effects, sounds, etc. I like ramped-up zombies in storms.

I disagree on the DLC pause, though that topic isn't really important to me at all, so long as it isn't "pay to win." Pause or don't; I don't care.

I disagree about going back to Learning By Doing (LBD) though some hybrid where you got better with weapons through use would be okay. I wouldn't abandon magazines for things like advancing into newer levels of technology.

I like the idea of a configurable loot randomness, as if maybe you could "stretch" or "contract" the game's range when rolling?

I like the idea of a well and some working on water. I don't mind the idea of fishing. I hate the idea that canned food give you dysentery; I think that's dumb.

Disagree on a bigger backpack and bigger inventory.

Disagree on hoe and fertilizer. I don't want farming to consume a bunch of time during play.

Agree on old zombies.

Don't care about new weapons; add them or don't. If you add weapons that need more ammo types then add a way to scrap them down to brass, lead, and gunpowder.

Agree it is neat to find Taza's Axe, but it's just a trophy. It's just a stone axe. Make it something I can hang in my base if you do anything with that idea.

I appreciate that he didn't demonize anyone or attribute past changes to nefarious motives.

Observation: The cool thing about these videos is they AMPLIFY a conversation among players. The bad thing is that it doesn't END a conversation among players in a way that will provide definitive feedback on many issues. There may be a few clear issues emerge.
