I would love to see a system put in place on these forums, where folks can share what they love/hate about the game, so that anyone reading any posts here can see immediately where that poster is coming from.
There are many ways to play/enjoy this great game, but not everyone likes the same things, and some things that some folks like, might not be liked by others.
With that being said, what are the chances of getting in-game and in-forum ways to make clear one's preferences, and therefore "where they are coming from", so we can all hook up with the like minded?
I personally play for learning/assisting early game play, and like to make a random world, then edit the spawn points to always start in the same place(s), and then see how I can do things differently (and hopefully, better), playing on the same map, with the same settings, time after time, so I can try out different ideas on my various playthroughs.
I also don't like to use guns/vehicles, as I like the pre-modern feel if I restrict myself to gathering tools, bows, and knives, both for hunting and fighting the hoard. In the last year or so, my eyesight has gotten so bad that killing at a distance is very hard in-game, but since I already play a builder/crafter/farmer kind of survivor playstyle, using the shovel, bow, and knife works for me.
So...
What are everyone else's playstyles and preferences? What main playstyles are there, and who else has an interest in being able to locate and play with like minded folks?
