Water bug flooding the Burnt Forest and spreading into the Green Forest in Navezgane

Hello,
I’ve encountered a water-related bug on the Navezgane map. In the Burnt Forest biome, large areas are being flooded by water that shouldn’t be there. The water seems to spread unnaturally and even flows into the neighboring Green Forest biome.


I’m not sure if this issue also affects other biomes, but it clearly impacts the Burnt Forest area and part of the Green Forest. Could you please check if this is a known bug?

Hi! Your log link wasn't correct, it is just linked to the main webpage.

I did some digging into this and discovered that if you have config files that are not correct (e.g. the server did not update them properly, or you're using the old V2.2 config files for V2.3, specifically biomes.xml), then this will happen. To fix this, you will need to reload a backup, and only start it once you've verified that the server's files are correct (if you look at the logs, look for "Wrong hash" on the config xml files).

Hi! The bug comes from before the v2.3 update. I got it right from the start of the game. I did some research and finally found out with my friend (ChatGPT) that we can regenerate "regions". Make sure to shut down the server before doing anything! You just need to go into the game folder =7daytodie/Saves/navezgame/My Game/Region/ and then you’ll see each region, which are 16x16 chunks, and each chunk is logically 32x32 blocks.


I located the region where my base was using the F3 key in the DebugMenu — in my case it was region: R.1.1.7rg (near trader Reckt). I deleted all the other files except for the region with my base and the "PendingResets.7pr" file (I don’t really know what it’s for, haha).


Then you just have to restart the server, connect to it again, and regenerate the parts of the map (the map is still filled with water at first, but once it loads, it goes back to “normal”).

Thank you for the solution! I want to try it out so my question is how exactly did you locate your base file after using F3?
 
Thank you for the answer! How long did the water last in your game? It seems to flow down the hills to the next river but it takes extremely long, so long that we can't distinguish if it really goes away or don't.

Once the chunks are regenerated, the water from the burned forest no longer exists, so I don't understand your question?
