Hello Survivors!
We hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!
Today we are releasing V2.3 b9 Experimental for Steam.

Barring any issues, this will be our release candidate for Stable.
We hope to get this out to all platforms later this week.

Here is what changed since V2.3 b8:

Added
  • Rubble_wasteland_filler_10

Changed
  • 4x4 vehicle is no longer affected by storms
  • Storm frequency setting defaults to 0
  • Increased delay between thunder during storms
  • Optimized Chunk SetBlock check of DeviceFlags
  • Optimized SpawnGroup memory use
  • Autorun starts only if run action was pressed for less than .2 seconds
  • Canned Food mesh so the main part of the label faces the player
  • Updated localization for 2.3 changes
  • POI sleeper volumes use a random seed in playtest

Fixed
  • Trader UI header icon overlap
  • Thunder sounds would leak an object if played too often

It seems to me that someone has seen JaWoodle's latest video featuring the 4x4. His storm mod has the same feature.
Actually just started that series today and saw where he said that was a change the mod he is using made. Honestly don't understand that as the 4x4 isn't remotely sealed so there's no way it would fully protect you from anything environmental. Might could extend the time till you take damage, but that's it.

Fixed the Honey Challenge (state will be reset, enjoy your potential double trader reward)
Doubled the probability boost of Armored Up magazines when perked into Light, Medium, or Heavy Armor
All zombie loot bags and dropped container bags last for 1 real world hour
Increased the number to spawn for the final stage of all Blood Moon groups to 999
Agility Mastery Level 3 Bleeding Hearts now includes bows and crossbows.

Honestly don't understand that as the 4x4 isn't remotely sealed so there's no way it would fully protect you from anything environmental. Might could extend the time till you take damage, but that's it.
I assumed the change is about driving physics. Vehicles steer differently in storms, and now 4x4 no longer do that.

What is listed here is "Here is what changed since V2.3 b8". In other words, the list in this thread is in addition to what was listed for b8 and the original 2.3 experimental thread. So, yes.... those are still included.

Yeah, that's my assumption as well. It doesn't protect you from damage. It just drives normally instead of sliding.

but still pre release im guessing? with artifacts from mechanics that no longer exist? do you think thats wise?
It will be pre-release until 4.0. That won't change.

Bummer. It would make the 4x4 more useful. Currently, most players are likely to travel by motorcycle or gyrocopter for long distances. I hardly know any players who use a 4x4 just for the extra storage space because the 4x4 is bulkier and feels like it uses more fuel than the motorcycle.

if i playd pve 4x4's protecting players from storms would be a concern to me for multiple reasons but
in pvp the 4x4 is not a factor so definately sounds like a pve player persuaded tfp to make this change.
most pvp players do not use the 4x4 which can be seen far away by other players.

It would make sense if it added some protection since it does have a roof and something over the windows. But then again, zombies can still give critical hits through all that "armor" so probably not.

Other than test games I never use the 4x4. If it is usable in storms now I may consider it.

I answered that before your post. And this is the same thing that has been in patch notes for each build for years. New notes show changes from the previous build so you know what the new build adds. And it clearly states that in the first post... "Here is what changed since V2.3 b8".
