  • Fixed excessive amount of animals spawned

Fixing animals is a victory! I've already asked this question. Can we include crunchy guys and mutants in the horde for the holiday?🥰

Dear God no. I hope they never spend time and resources on such a thing. They have so much still to work on.
As stated many times, they all don't work on the same thing. All that would need to be done is to have an artist make the skin. That wouldn't stop any of the devs from continuing to work on everything else. Implementing it into the game wouldn't take much time at all. I make zombie mods and the vast majority of the time taken is getting the model together. Once that's done, putting it into the game is easy, especially if it's a reskin of an existing model.

Animal spawn reduction appears to be a success.  In b25 I could almost always see a deer from my base in the pine forest at any time.
haven't read the rest of this thread yet but yes, in single player it was like a zoo, of deer, bunnies and chickens and snakes; not a complaint to have a better supply of food, but it was from one extreme to another, way too much easy meat; great for atmosphere ie to see wildlife out and about, but too much available food; so this is gonna be a good c change, will look forward to applying the update tonight

So, that artist who's possibly working on finishing missing new animal models for example (Grace, pigs, coyote) or maybe bandits, should stop his work to do Santa's zombie skins and raindeers? Makes a lot of sense... Not!

Oh! You mean that artist who's not working on anything at all and just waiting, praying that they'll ask him to do a Santa skin that will be used only for a month or so in game... Really now?

now you mention that, the new chicken doesn't move convincingly oftentimes ; same as the new bunny which i mentioned in another thread; i can understand animals looking different as we were told we were getting some new skins ; but quite how their movement then gets broken (for those 2 animals) i don't quite know; such a shame

Really now?
Yes, really now. Everything you mentioned (grace, pig, etc) has already been shown as finished.

This defending or sticking-up-for (for lack of better words) the devs is the negative image of those that flatly s#!t on them.

On a forum where the devs actually answer questions, why would you take it upon yourself to answer for them?

I can't stand this attitude on forums from users. Don't stifle people's desire to ask questions. The devs are adults. I believe they can handle it.

I haven't updated to stable yet, but when i was on last night there were still tons of animals to hunt.  I wonder if they are doing this to balance out food needs to multiplayer servers.  It is nice not having to hunt every living thing to get the food you need though lol.

I wonder if stable will still have a ton of animals to hunt?

Maybe read OP? Or patchnotes stable?

A forum is open to all. Send TFP a private message if you only want them to reply to you and see if they answer. They are busy finishing the game (and other projects) so don't expect too much.

If those new animal models (Grace, coyote, pigs) are finished, why aren't they in game?

I don't know, but those images showing the models from every conceivable angle looked pretty darn finished to me. I'm not a professional developer. I'm not a professional model maker, but I have made model mods for the game and I doubt it takes 6 months for a professional to rig and weight paint 3 models, where I can get a completed model game ready in a day or two, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

And yes, the forum is open to all, from both ends of the spectrum.

Probably mostly because of just priority.  Hopefully those will come in soon just like the latest batch.

Edit: In addition to modeling, there is animation, some code support, and testing that needs to be done for those to get released.

i mentioned it in another post somewhere recently, but the animation/movements of the new bunny and chicken are real strange (bad), doesn't make much sense as the old bunny was very realistic in it's movements (especially the 'meerkat' movement where it would get up on hind legs looking around etc), (oh and super, super cute), and the old chicken was also extremely realistic in it's movements. i can't get my head around why such realistic movements are gone, to be replaced with, well not realistic movements at all (gliding along, even gliding backwards without any limbs moving). Makes me very sad inside.....
