PC Updating and restarting?

My friend and myself switched over from console onto PC, we played awhile on Alpha 18, then Alpha 19 dropped and we updated, not realizing we had to restart. Does this only happen from Major Alpha updates like 18 to 19 or any update like 19.0 to 19.1? We opt'd out of updates and stayed on 19.0 to avoid restarting, until we get this figured out.

You don't have to restart between 19.0, 19.1, 19.2, etc. There could be weird glitches that occur but probably nothing game breaking-- just annoying. But you do need to restart between A18 and A19 and we will again for A20.
