Unity Hub has no gear icon for preferences

I downloaded Unity 6000.0.42 but in order to use it I need a license. In order to use a free license I need to access the preferences section of the Unity Hub. Can someone please tell me how to find where to go, or at least tell me that it is a Unity problem and I should contact them?
