PC Underground base challenge designed for horde nights.

I haven't dug underground since 17. Has anyone attempted /maybe successfully made some creative underground bases just for hordes? I was curious if anyone came up with some stuff. I was going to try myself after level 120, and build a underground base to fight hordes. Post screenshots if have any of bases etc

 
Vedui has built three underground bases in his video series. But they were still built at the time of Alpha 17.0. With 17.2 there were some changes to the AI that have to be considered. If the paths for the zombies are too long they won't run through the entrance but dig through to you.

Why thank you RipClaw! It does seem they still work fairly well, as long as you're careful about making sure they have a good path down to the player and do not make it too far. They seem fairly disinclined to dig if they can run down to the player (which makes sense) and just use the digging mechanic as a last resort. I hope that's not changed, as that makes sense, even if it means we can funnel the zombies underground into a kill zone :)

 
I have made a few. I find putting my house under my horde maze just works better but, of course, is not good for PvP.

I don't have pics but my favorite underground base was actually dug out of a cliff face. The entrance was dug out a few blocks inside the face itself making really difficult for the zeds to dig but encourage them to take the front maze. Discovered that you can make a entrance to such a base by digging a 2 deep hole in the pathway. You can just jog over it but zeds will see it as impassable. Useful for forcing them into your main defensive entrance.

I am thinking of designing an underground base where there is a holding room of sorts on the top so that the zeds will dig down but as soon as they get to me they will be in my intended kill zone.
