I am posting here rather than support just to see if anyone has seen this because I am not the person with the problem and don't have logs to share.  So just checking if anyone has seen this or has a suggestion.

When you load the game to the menu, you'll see your username on the bottom left of the screen.  This should go away when loading a save.  Someone I play the game with has that staying on the screen while playing the game if he joins my game (I'm hosting; it isn't a dedicated server).  It doesn't happen in his own games.  Because of the position of that, it blocks his view of health and stamina so he never knows if he's about to die.  Had him try clicking Defaults in options without luck.   Also had him try making a new profile without any luck.  I haven't yet tried joining his game to see if I have the same problem.

Some clarification, is he joining you while he is on the main menu, or is he joining you before his game is running? We have a known bug where if you try to join a friend without the game running (ex: "Join Game" option from steam or accept a game invite before the game starts up) you will run into this issue. So if it's the latter, I would suggest have your friend try to get into the main menu first (past the news screen), before joining you/accepting game invite
