PC TTG Version Updates?

I previously bought the Xbox One version on disk several years ago at the full price of $60 when it was published by TTG (before they went under) and I was hoping someone could clarify, is the Xbox One disk going to be updated as well? If not will I be able to get the new version for free considering the fact I bought the disk at $60?

It was $60? I wasn’t aware it ever was that expensive. I bought the TTG version when it came out for around $20 (although I purchased it digitally).

that’s neither here nor there though. To answer your question, the TTG version is not getting updated they have said. The game required a new listing, so it means repurchasing it, although they did offer a discount (I think physical copies can get the discount, but not sure). I didn’t really understand what the exact reasoning for that was, but it had something to do with Xbox and PlayStation store rules apparently.

The other, non technical reason, is that the company that created the old console version Telltale Games, no long exists to maintain or update the game. The Fun Pimps have purchased back the rights to the game and now are publishing the game themselves.

Purchases of physical disks don't get the discount so I heard. I don't know the reason, I suspect the xbox and ps stores have no easy way of checking whether anyone has bought such a version, as it was through different channels.

Even though the new game has the same name it is a completely new port of a game that has not much in common anymore with the version telltale produced. The old console version was a product of telltale and with telltales bankruptcy and the way that played out the old console version was practically finished with no chance for updates or anything.

Think of it like this: Lets assume that Ford would licence one of its car designs to Chrysler and you bought that car from Chrysler. If Chrysler got into a bankrupty then you likely won't get any support from Ford on the fact that the car is originally a design from Ford.
